Google PR update.

Old URL still at 2 and new custom URL at 0 (at least its better than NA). Now, how do I tell google that both these URLs point to the same blog so that PR of old URL is transferred to new one.

hmm, the PR always gets affected in shifitng of URLs, doesnt it? Still, I think you will get a new PR pretty soon for the new url.

Does that mean you get your GPR or do you have to start all over again?

I had a PR of 2 earlier but now as I shifted to a custom domain, the PR got reset to zero. I hope that PR gets transferred.

Thanks, Abhi, Arti, and DS. I hear about Prs of 5 and 6 for blogs, so I was not clear whether a 2 is good or not. I have been blogging for six years, but more in the form of keeping a personal journal with only myself and my family as readers. It is only since the last six months that I have started blogging more regularly and keeping a broader more general readership in mind.

Wow! 6 years is quite a time. It requires some serious dedication to blog for that much amount of time. amazing! :)

A PR of 2 is good enough. PR 5 and 6 is difficult to achieve. Moving to higher PR is difficult because it is on a log scale. If 100 links can bring you to PR1, 1000 are required to move to PR 2 and so on.. though not exactly as I described. Spending more time is the best way but it is possible only for professional bloggers.

No, that would be too high. indiatimes and rediff have a pagerank of 7. I dont think indi gets that much traffic, besides it also depends on incoming links from sites with higher pr.

Reason for the dip: Renie hasn't asked any sponsorer to send us free i pads in the way Dove has sent free hair care product samples 

@ DS Page Rank is not at all related to traffic. It only depends on the quantity and quality of incoming links. The other way around can be true: A page having a high PR might get more traffic because it is likely to perform better in searh engines.

Been Blogging Since 2nd Oct, 2011, Got PR3. I was expecting a PR5, but links have got diluted across 3 other website's of our which are interlinked. All other  sites of ours have moved to PR1. As Google is Down from PR10 to PR9, another update is expected shortly. Increased my link building activity 20 times, Hope to crack that PR5!

Congrats to all others who have improved their ranking and those would could not, give it a shot, you will get there!

That is a good rank withink a short period of time. Any particular sites you would recommend fot link building? When do you think the next update will be?

Actually PR is bit outdated in terms of a measure of the targeted traffic we get. Moz rank gives you a better understanding. But PR helps in getting Readers Attention.

Checking the Rank against the targeted keyword is better. But I guess It makes sense to first be loved by Gig G, then we can always get that love from Mr. Moz and Ms. Alexa!
