Calling all musicians together

I am planning to start a music blog. However, I want to use it as a promotion platform along with a fun forum. So, here is what I plan: -

  • Post audio and video clips of your work. Be it playing an instrument or singing or dancing.
  • Once, we get a good number of members there, we can add varieties to it like, composing music together. I twill have two forms.
  • Self-composed: Here, a piece of self-composed music will be initiated by one of the members and other members keep on adding to it.
  • Experiment with composed tunes: In this form, lead will come by the initiator as an already composed tune where fellow members add more tunes (which are already composed in bollywood, for example).
  • Technicalities and other logistics can be decided once we have some interested people.

So, let me know your reactions. I hope to hear from all those musicians out here. I'm sure it will be fun.

P.S. Please do not forget to mention what you play, whether you sing, or what form of dance you're into. Also, if you have taken any formal training.

Not sure how you will do it,but would be fun to explore.

One major question:Ownership of the content created?Licensing

Trust me, artists are very very protective of their work:)

I play a bit of guitar and also compose/write songs. Style: Poetry/Story based

Madhur, you're right. I myself am a musician and have done my graduation in Music.

I am still to work on logistics but be rest assured that interests of all musicians be saved. I know its a big task, but again the project itself is so ambitious.

It took 8 months for me to realize that music is not my cup of tea and the net result of 8 months of toil were corns on my fingers and one frustrated guitar teacher, richer by a 10,000 bucks but with a nasty feeling that possibly she would have been happier 10,000 bucks poorer itself.

TF, you reminded me of my HIndi Teacher. She used to say Gaana aur rona sabko aata hai (Everyone knows how to sing and and how to cry).Tongue out

Having said that I bet that I can bring the musician out of you. All I need in return is dedicated one hour from your daily routine.

@ Animesh - Really? Thats would be great. I have to see if my guitar is still there in my father's house. I haven't seen it for close to 7 years now. Will a guitar survive 7 years on the loft? In the end of 8 months, I could mechanically play the chords and the "for a few dollars more" song. But I still had not figured how to tune the guitar. Not sure if your teahcer is right. Rona maybe but gaana - I think you need sensitive ears for music.

Can't say if it would have survived. Depends exactly in what condition it is.

But if you're serious, I can promise you that you will be able to play music naturally. But, I plat lap steel guitar which is different than normal guitars you see in TV and movies.

Great to see so many responses from fellow bloggers, Ani. You already know I play the guitar. So you can count me in for any such venture.

Maybe once you have decided how you want us to contribute apart from posting clips, we can all Hangout on G+ and discuss how we can take things further.

I'll call you tomorrow (I assume you must have dates swarming over you todayWink). Aage baat tab karte hein. I have some doubts about Audacity I'm sure you can clear... Laughing
