Every one knew about this issues, but no one was comming forward to expose this facts.

Only Amir got the guts to do it. He can really take the common mans's issue to front and provide justice for it.

its similar to zindagi live of IBN7......but having a little bit shown dignity by aamir.....no background music for emotional situation...a very calm and polite way of questioning and expressing his views .......involving audience..........its a nice platform but will it be sustained for a longtime or it is just a showcase of social problems just for a time being ....just like a debate topic.....i think we all are matured and intelligent enough to take this in our own way of thinking....but will we get the ultimate outcome ie expected by aamir...it is still a big question for our democratic society.....

Actually it is not only Aamir having the guts. Two things that make his point a big stand:

1. He is well known celebrity.

2. To start a moment it is always required a person like him to come forward or if we seen Anna Hazare in earlier last year, but the problem that grasp here is that people like us stop only by saying he or she is having guts to come forward, dear the reality is not that but if you suppose a common man comes forward how many of other like him really listen to his words - I do agree they do listen but the fact is to make an unfamous name verbally strong is not that possible.

So to have such moments, we need not only Aamir but other great well-known faces of the country like Sachin Tendulkar, and other biggies name - the country is ready to be a part of moment as common man is tired of all this things now but a moment well known make it happening only if (all) comes together not only one.

I think every one know these problems but none can take initiative. If Aamir takes then we should support as much as we can...

If he can fight for others, can't we support a bit ? afterall TB is also a collection of bits only..!

Gayathri its not always like that a women has to go through a lot .you can not just categorize every women who suffred should not have suffrend if she had relied back with same actions.

Some poorer sections of women still can not do all these due to lack of resources , they have to look for the easiest methods somewhow,.

I guess the need of teh hour is to make women confidant enuff to not to hesitate when they cant tolerate this crime !

My question is very simple, when they got her aborted twice already why let allow him to go for the third? simple! I understand the first 2 women didn't have enough "resources" but a doctor allowed her MIL to torture her and bher baby come on! She is educated and she was so stupid enough to go back to her husband! That is heights and as a doctor she should have gone to the police.. she is educated, had support from her family what else was needed? she was stupidly blind in love!

True, some people take the wierdest decisions but unfortunately we have no idea what was going through their mind. The first 2 ladies - even I could understand that its not easy to simply walk out because - walk out and go where? do what? A lot of parents will not even support - as if its the lady's fault, but thats how some people behave. As for the doctor, seriously! I have no idea why she would do that. Its difficult for us to judge their decisions. I just hope that females who have the resources should be able to stand up against injustice.

What I loved about the show, from its first episode at least, is how they didn't try to tone it down or 'sugar' it. Brutal honesty, that's what we need.

Now let's hope it doesn't get gimmicky!

Deepa Duraisamy

My personal opinion is a different take than the others who absolutely love the show. I thought its good too, but I have my reasons for doubting the effectiveness.

We are at this point today, because the wrong-doers, people who support the practice by action or inaction, the male chauvinists, know that they can do so and get away with it. As Dr.Bedi said in the show, what the situation needs in order to change, is a major edict re-write. Eve-teasing was recently declared as an arrest-able offense. Make sex-selective abortions a criminal offense too with significant jail time and disbarrment. Revoke licenses. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Sometimes simply spreading awareness is not enough. Unless and until judicial systems support the peoples' fight and go hand in hand, we will not see change. At the end of the day, it all boils down to mindset.

I penned a post on this one titled - Why I feel sorry for Aamir's latest. I am not supposed to promote my blog on the forum, so I wont do that. But its just my viewpoint. Read on for more.

I can on;ly say that the female foeticide is illegal from past 18 years in India!

Deepa Duraisamy

Unfortunately I just learned today that only sex determination is considered illegal. Female foeticide still does not have any laws against it. So its not OK to find out the sex of your baby but its OK to kill the baby once you know its a girl. How does that work? I dont get it!

I agree with Deepa "judicial systems support the peoples' fight and go hand in hand", but it cannot possible because of one another disease "Corruption". As you see in the show two journalist does a sting operation but what the result ??

It is because hierarchy goes up to top, doctors, lawyers who support that doctors, Higher Medical Authorities, Gov. Officers who support them etc. this structure is much more complicate then our web structure..

Unless & until we won’t wake up, these things are not going to change…

There are many similar case but if we see only this case…

Why we go to those doctors who does this type of activities If can do something when we come to know that a particular doctor does this activity we make aware people to Ignore them. Just throw out that person from the society this can be done by us not by government. Aware society no to make any type of relation or transaction with them this may be some or more helpful then depending on others like Gov. or Police or Medical higher authorities to take any actions.

I am not very experienced in political or social issues so I am sorry if I expressed something wrong…

@NIPESH

for society to change some steps must be taken

this can be the first step if not the deciding step i guess !

Deepa Duraisamy
from Melbourne

Rightly said Nipesh! At our level (common man) the least we can do is - if we have knowledge of anyone involved in such practices, we can start to shun them. Recently a guy in our colony had done something of this sort and a few days later when I was downstairs leaving for work, he offered me a ride. I declined and thumbed a rickshaw right in front of his nose. It wasnt a big deal, in fact it was a little immature if you think about it, but what the heck. I was pissed at him and I did what clicked me at that moment.

While everyone was enjoying the show, I was giving an exam on a sunday morning. Yell

lol I wasn't enjoying the show .. I was wondering for 1 and a half an hour why those ladies cried!! and Aamir too of course!

Haha... YouTube to the rescue Cool

PS: I still have no idea what the show is all about.Innocent

Gayathri

heheh.. I won't say it was worthless.. it was definitely worthy.. but crying bit was too much.. my mom cries for everything even she found it too much so you can imagine.. Tongue out the show is to bring social awareness.. and trying to understand the cause of an issue and the measures taken by various normal people and authorities.. then he asks us to support him which we always do.. :) It's always the hope that keeps an Indian going... someone will do something good for our country let's support and things might change.. but does it really change.. I don't know! :)

The idea seems great.Smile

I think this would surely have some impact on us. I mean, something is better than nothing. There are many who are still unaware of such social issues, this might help bring such things in notice to them.

you are not supposed to promote your blogs on forum... Yell

Ha! I knew someone would be coming saying this. Let me tell what actually IB has to say.

From the FAQ's

Q. Can I promote my blog? (in forums)

A. Sure, you can promote your blog - but ensure that your promotion is relevant. Posting a topic about your blog or your latest blog post (no matter how brilliant it is) is frowned upon by the community. However, if you have blogged about something relevant that can add value to an existing topic, then by all means - post a link to your blog post!

So, I guess it's fine in this case. Smile

I believe Amir has gained tremendous milege and goodwill by exposing infant female abortion.  It was an existing malady, kudos to Amir for dramatising the sufferings and appealing to senses of humankind.  The aftermath of this program should result in some arrests of top medical personalities and cancellation of their license to practise, than only the program would have achieved its effectiveness.  The same victims experience should be investigated and perpetuators punished.

it's like this, big need for celebrites to not only bring to light these things, but ensure strong actions. I had written a strong post on this issue itself but got a handful readers. I am not like rakhi sawant who alleged aamir to have copied her show "raakhi ka insaaf'.

it's simply that need of more higher order clebrities to lead a nationwide campaign.

I just read that a doctor was arrested today after having practiced female foeticide. Also, looks like Gehlot has promised Aamir that they will set up fast tracks. There are some videos on Youtube which talk about these events. I am so glad that something is happened. We have had enough reactions now we need action. This is one place where Newton's rule goes anti. For every set of reactions, we need an action! A lot of bloggers have written about Satyameva Jayate. I just hope that the momentum stays sustained and we see some light at the tunnel! Go Indians!

At the outset this is to emphasize that this  new blogger and a 50 years old whistle blower has no desire to promote his blog but has a burning desire to let the fellow citizens  know about his fight against corruption in Oil Companies. In fact I have started to blog only to intensify my decade long fight against corruption. Now when everybody is talking about ‘Satyamev Jayate’, I just thought to share about my fight against corruption in the blogosphere. Hopefully a common-man’s fight, without any support of leaders or Celebrities, will also be appreciated by Indibloggers members.

Satyamev Jayate - the show that can bring the change   Finally the much awaited show of Aamir Khan ie Satyamev Jayate has gone live and the format of the show Satyamev Jayate has finally revealed. Satyamev Jayate The show has created lots of buzz and everyone is talking about Satyamev Jayate, expectation from the show was sky high because of the person behind the show, Aamir khan who needs no introduction, we all know how much passion and dedication ge puts each work.Satyamev Jayate is a talk show with a twist, generally talk shows are done with celebs as guest but as the show is of Aamir Khan who is known for doing everything differently, has added the twist in the show by changing the Celebs with "The Comman man".The first episode of Satyamev Jayate was based on the female foeticide in India. When the episode started I was disappointed thinking that it will be ordinary talk show like many others we have seen in the past but as the show concludes it proved me wrong because it wasn't an ordinary talk show it has lots of emotions and feelings in it. Satyamev Jayate raises the issue of female foeticide in India alarmingly and has shown the light of change to us.Heads off to Aamir Khan for making show like Satyamev Jayate which is based on social issues. Satyamev Jayate has received overwhelming response from the public and critics and got the high TRP, personally I don't understand the procedure of calculating these TRPs but in figures it was 8.9 which I think is great.Lets see whether this show can bring any change or not because we Indians have the habit of seeing and forgetting. All and all Its a great show and a must watch for everyone. Tell us about your views on the show Satyamev Jayate in the comments section below.

Thats some statement !

Watched 'Satyamev Jayate' on TV today again. Is it news that some doctors are unethical? No. Did we come to know only from Aamir that medical care in India being expensive is due to systemic corruption? No. Popular media tells us that from time to time. But Aamir challenges status quo with dedicated research and has concrete solutions. He takes it one step forward by giving means to viewers to support such noble causes. He believes in the power of the mass. It is, undeniably, the biggest strength we have as a country.

yes you are right, this is the first show that i watched fully(almost) ,and i do admire his research AND solutions...if only our govt.woult act on them....i had read in the media once, that every year many, many families go below the poverty line because of medical treatments.

I had to pay more than 40k last week for an appendectomy surgery! A normal laproscopic surgery costs around 25k including medicine costs. On inquiring how the total bill went up so much the guys at the hospital have the guts to say, "the doctor who was supposed to perform the surgery had to go on a vacation, and hence we got a substitute surgeon for the surgery. Owing to this, the cots increased"!!! The surgeon has charged 17k as his visiting charges for a minimally invasive laproscopic surgery! I refused to pay up and am also contemplating taking these people to consumer rederessal forum. Any suggestions? Oh, and yes, the medicines cost an extra 7k as well.
