It fully Depends on Type and aim of Blog. I love Blogger bcoz it is Free. But I think is wordpress (Hosted) is the Best Blogging Platform as well as CMS. Ankit Pratham

I have my blog in the free versions of both Blogger and Wordpress. I have been posting the same content almost at the same time at both the platforms with similar titles, tags etc. Both have their plus and minus points. If you are looking at traffic only, then wordpress is better. Blogger allows you to post in regional languages like Hindi or Tamil. I have done a detailed comparison in my blog on the above topic. I prefer Self Hosted Wordpress. Gives you the ability to do just anything with your blog - Modify how the database works, modify the templates, modify how the plugins work and loads of things.

I have blogs on both wordpress and blogspot. And I would certainly favour Wordpress as a suitable blogging platform. Wordpress is more feature rich. Blogspot is glamourous but does not have the basic and essential features necessary for blogging. The Wordpress tags give you a lot of traffic to your website (You won't get this on a self hosted wordpress blog as well). However, if your aim is to earn money through adsense, go for Blogspot, since Wordpress won't allow this feature.

wordpress rocks! I'm telling this after using both blogspot and WP. but, as many feel, both are advantageous and disadvantageous in their own ways. But, with WP the former weighs more!

I started my first blog on Wordpress.com. I found it very elegant and neat. I still do. I haven't however used Blogger. But I might in the near future.

I think it is wrong to club self hosted wordpress and wordpress blog on wordpress.org. As Rahi Vidya rightly pointed out, the biggest problem with free wordpress blog is that you can not show adsense advertisement.Guys trust me we are talking about serious money here.

If you are trying to checking up (testing ) yourself whether you can write blog and get involve in blogsphere then i would suggest you to start with Blogger or wordpress.com but if you are making up your mind to do some serious blogging and monetizing your blog then you must start with self hosted blog.   the good thing is that you can transfer your post anytime from bloggers or wordpress.com to your self hosted blog by import feature. For me, wordpress self hosted blog is the best blogging platform as of now. And this is because I can customize the blog to exactly do what I want it to do. And I need to spend about a couple of thousands for a good host and a domain name ;-)

I use blogger.

Its easy, simple,

user-friendly,

all explained so nicely,

good themes available,

so much to add from all around the web,

most of all its from Google.

But i'll love to switch to wordpress if it starts to enable adding google adsense to its blogs.

I have blogged on both Wordpress and Blogspot. I think it is the support and the ease of use coupled with some really good themes that gives Wordpress the edge.

The neatness and method that a Wordpress blog posesses, i find, is superior when you compare it with Blogspot.

I dont intend to monetise my blog through advertising, so Wordpress it remains

I've extensively used MovableType, TypePad, Blogger, Squarespace and now WordPress.

WordPress rocks!

Even the free, hosted version.  Only limitation (for some) is no support for ad tools like AdSense.

(P.S. Isn't this Indiblogger platform also on Wordpress?)

I prefer hosted Wordpress blog because Wordpress 2.7 has many more features than Blogger. Visit my blog, at www.rcthegreatblog.com
