Help Me Create A Blogging Strategy For The Next 3 Months
I have been blogging for 6 months now.
- Total Posts : 137
- Google Page Rank : 3
- Technorati Blog Rank : 261,468
- Alexa Traffic Rank : 933,556
I like statistics a lot and want to start making money from my blog within the next 3-4 months. Progress is always chaotic.There are many limitations I face. It would be great if members could help me draw a strategy for the next 3 months. My above 4 targets for the next 3 months are.
- Posts : 100
- GPR : 5
- TBR : 75,000
- ATR : 100,000
I know I post on a lot of topics, which arn't related. The blog is hosted on a subdomain (don't have a credit card). Can't give more than 2 hours per day to blogging. Technically challenged, etc. etc.I would like some brianstorming. Some ideas from bloggers who have already attained these numbers and are able to maintain them.
Hey DInesh - ambition is a good thing! Bloggers, why don't we all help out here - and see where we can collectively take Dinesh's blog? This could be a great case study of how the community can make a difference.

That is quite impressive progress for 6 months blogging. The best route to get some really good amount of traffic is to blog about recently hot topics. Think of movie releases, product releases, political controversy etc and then write about the topics that you like.
Once you have identified your keywords, write a post that is perfectly optimized for the given keywords. You may refer to my post about The best way to use keywords on blog post for maximum impact
To increase your pagerank and technorati rank you should use link bait. That is an awesome article though not written by me :( If you can manage with less quality advice then go through my post about linkbuilding.
The simplest way to increase alexa rank is to install alexa toolbar on your own browser.

I have been noting down the main stats for my blog each month end since Oct'08. In Oct my blog's Alexa Traffic Rank was 4,096,842 ... Technorati Blog Rank 929,676 and Google Page Rank 0. I have come across many articles which promise a zoom in these rankings in 30 days or below but never really follwed them. I want to rise slowly and keep improving. At the same time the competition is tougher as one moves up the ladder.
It won't be possible for me to install the toolbar as I access internet thru cybercafes. I have installed an Alexa widget though :)
Binary Day...Thanx a lot for the links I will definitely fo thru them. I really think I need to focus on 2-3 topics at the max. Keywords I find a bit difficult to adhere to but will try.

PS: Binary Day please keep updating ur list of top blogs on Indiblogger. I would suggest an update atleast every quarter. U cud trim down the list to Top 100 blogs. I'll try and pick up one category from the Labnol Directory beginning March end. Hopefully other bloggers would contribute and my the year end we can have a definitive list of Top Ranking Indian Blogs/Blogs By Indians.
Let's try and sync our efforts so anyone interested in joining in ould find it easy to contribute.
*Date --->We could update our lists every quarter beginning March End.
*Ranking --->U started the trend of ranking the blogs by Alexa Rank and I picked up 10 random blogs from Labnol and Ranked them according to Alexa Rank. We cud stick to Alexa. Ofcourse the authenticity of Alexa, Google, Technorati and other rankings is debatable...but untill a better ranking system comes up we have no option.
The second link doesn't work but I've downloaded 2 articles from ur blog.
I was analysing ur blog's ranks on Website Grader and noticed it has got 684 google indexed pages and the domain age is around 15 months. I could not locate any archive on ur blog. So have u been blogging for 15 months?
Another question is regarding Google Indexed Pages. My blog has 152 according to Website Grader while I have just 141 posts. I havn't created any about page. Why this discrepancy.

Looks like indiblogger changes all occurences of l.i.n.k to taboo.....Renie you may want to look into it as many good resources on the internet have that word in the url
No need to do the analysis of blogs manually. I have written a programme for the same and had utilized the programme for the earlier analysis. Will run it soon to include the blogs from labnol.....I have been too busy at office and blogging to do it till now. Will try to do it soon since seems like there are at least some people interested in the same.
Do not go by the alexa rank. It is just that my blogs are read by webmasters who have alexa toolbar installed and hence the rank. I will take you up on the technorati challenge though since that will be good for both of us.
The higher number of pages in google index may be because of some category/tag pages being indexed.
Let me know if I missed out any of your questions. Will love to answer them. Don't worry about asking questions on this forum. The beauty of this forum is that almost all members like to answer questions.
Done - no longer taboo. 
- Posts : 100 - in your control and very much possible. One post per day should take you there.
- GPR : 5 - links from high ranking sites should help you here. Yahoo, etc. Also look for newspaper blogs that allow URL's. That might help. Check out Squidoo (Sorry chaps couldn't resist)
- TBR : 75,000 - hunt for blogs that are listed on Technorati and leave comments. The authority will increse. That should impact your TBR.
- ATR : 100,000 - have you tried long tail keywords. I plan to blog on it shortly. Just to give your a head up. Try pumping your blog with at least 200 leywords. Traffic should increase.
That reminds me. I need to figure out where I stand. Just a moment while I return with my statistics. Meanwhile have fun.

It's great to know that u have a software Binary Day. I am certainly interested in stats and not just benchmarking my blog against top Indian blogs but also finding out where Indian blogs stand in comparison to top Global blogs. So I don't need to manually find out the ranks for Labnol blogs, right? Do let me know if u need any other inputs.
My search skills are good (atleast I like to think so 
) and I cud always find out blogs by Indians/people of Indian origin which are not in even ur combined top 100 list.
Amitabh ur inputs are welcome. The basics remain the same but there is so much to know and interent is always in a state of flux. Always good to know finer points and newer developments.
It would be great if u join Binary Day and me in the Technorati challenge. Let's see who has the best Technorati Blog Rank at the end of March. It would motivate all of us.

The problem with Technorati is it misses a lot fo links. But I guess all of us face the same issue so are equally handicapped.
Amitabh please elaborate on ur strategy for long tailed keywords also pl sahare list of newspaper blogs which allow comments. I have been trying to figure out a way for getting inlinks from super duper sites like BBC,CNN etc. Nature.Com does not allo URL in comments :(

Dinesh, that is a really good collection of resources to get free links. Thank you. I will start getting links for binaryday as well. My sense is you should do a blog post about these links or better still create a squidoo lens for these links. I am sure that will become popular.

Getting the best out of Search Engine traffic is the only way to improve traffic and hence blog income. One needs to think about money only after establishing good traffic... say something like 2500 unique visitors per month or 5000 plus page views.
Traffic mechanisms like entrecard, stumble may not have long lasting effect and hence please worry about Search Engine Optimization alone for now...

I like numbers Amitabh. Sometimes I am disappointed that I havn't been able to achieve as much as I wanted. But then I realise that I have learnt a great deal in the past 7 months or so. In April I intend to start 3 separate threads on Google Page Rank, Technorati Blog Rank and Alexa Traffic Rank. Looking forward to ur inputs.
New bloggers need not repeat the mistakes. It's good to share what one has learnt. I have realised blogging, seo, web traffic are baby issues in India and much of what we learn is second hand knowledge from the West. True, internet is global but even on this platform there are differences in usage patterns of individuals. Maybe we can create a small pool of knowledge here that will help fellow Indian bloggers.

Google Page Rank and Alexa Traffic Rank is pretty easy what is hard is the traffic .
Leon I guess Alexa Traffic Rank is calculated based on traffic to a site/blog. I wonder what makes u think it's easy to get a high ATR.
