Hi Amit,

realy very nice subject. What I think is I try to put relative content. And try to discuss it, specific topic with a series of articles. Going deeper and deeper. Also try to give gud references from whitch I study to write. So it becomes worth reading and people who are interested to study get more ref. too. Please give your guidelines. I have already thread How to get google PR?. Please put your guidelines there also.

Hi Mohini,

I checked your blog and felt that you are doing this for your hobby. But if you want to explore more of the web, you've got to consider registering your own domain name and host it on some good hosting service. Google gives a very less weightage to dependent blogs.

The second thing is, your blog has a targeted traffic of India, so think of words and phrases that correctly identify your content. There is a google adwords tool where you can type these words and phrases to check how many times they are searched on the web and how much competition is there for that particular search. The words that best suit you and have high search volume are to be defined as keywords. Try using them into your headings and content few times. Then just focus on content, everything will be done for you naturally by Google.

I am not much into traffic because the blog I have usually entertains tech forums like techenclave, digit, chip and sorts. There are few articles which many people like, but usually it benefits such folks belonging to such community. I would like subscribers, but doesn't matter as eventually people end up hearing/listening to it

But recently there have been some "suits" (nickname for managers/PR from certain company) reading the blog all thanks to the rants (yeah, couple of PR folks from Taiwan said once about a blog post) so yeah, I know my readers and I was able to get their attention. At the same time, I make sure whatever message they have and they want me to put it up, I make sure of it. It maintains a decent "120-150" page views and out of which most are Indian readers.

My problem is that this a ranting blog. But over the time since I get review/media samples for hardware reviewing, people do check my blogs the purpose of the blog slightly got a 1up league within its niche category.

Now, I toned my language but still kept it as effective and direct as possible. I am just not sure if I am pushing it and making the suits beginning to hate me, therefore blacklisting to send me any media/review samples (yikes). At the same time, there are some "lingos" that many readers are not aware of so I am using referral links as a healthy practice. So I just wanted a feedback if there's something I could work on:

in my blog, i write both civil and general articles. i thought that the civil engineering articles will not attract much traffic but it was not so. there was this particular civil post of mine that proved me false. it attracted 300 hits individually. and still continues to attract google searches. i just put in what ever i knew about the structure and there i had a crowd puller :) i wonder why the other posts did not do so. this is the post :http://civilprincess.blogspot.com/2010/09/leaning-tower-of-abu-dhabi.html

Hi Roshan, I had a friend named Roshan and he is an artist, a very good one. You are the second Roshan who seems to be good in writing skills. Your topic of blogging is a bit different and the traffic to that niche has a certain limit but atleast you are writing about your knowledge.

Regarding your writing is I can say, you have excellent writing skills, but the language you use is a bit technical. I would suggest you to use easily understandeable statements as the public that is reading can contain normal readers as well as hardcore readers, and the common language between both the categories is the one which is easy to understand. Use the theme with some light background, like say white. It soothens the eyes for longer reading. And the last suggestion is to use independent domain, which I said to Mohini also.

For all guys: Tracking every site through Mozilla plugins is a very easy way. Use the plugins SEO Quake and Alexa Sparky to get most of the information everytime visiting any site.

Niranjana, we never know of what post will catch the most user attention until we are into blogging from years. You've used Abu Dhabhi quite wisely in the article, and I gues you don't know about it. Check the keywords which are sending traffic to this article, then check those keywords in that article of how you placed them. There are few keywords who are lsearched more and have lesser competition on web. You can use the Google Keywords tool to search for the terms which you can use wisely.

Roshan, I said, your blog is not for all, it's not a common topic, that's why it covers to only the ones who have so much of knowledge about your subject. The link you responded with enrtains common items, that's not much tough to understand while your topic is naturally different and the reader should possess a sound brain into that field.

And Roshan, the link you provided doesn't attracts much traffic. It even doesn't has any alexa or Google PR.

My blog is a mixed bag which is a mix of some posts based on society and life, some tech stuff, some rants from my personal life, haikus, photos, fictional short stories and occasional entries for online blogging contests. So writing articles is not a frequent on my blog, however it's disheartening for me as I don't get much of readers' comments for those articles with lot of research and time invested in them. This happens because of the nature of my blog. From a mixed bag blog people rarely expect articles and their attention span will be less. When they see a lengthy post in such cases, they often pass it without reading. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my perception from what I encounter.

When I write an article, I look for various articles on the internet that would support the what I write. And I would go really deep into it and it turns out to be a little long than the usual posts I write on the spur of the moment.

Hi Vee, I tell you my story. I started my journey of blogging from a blog that I thought of targetting to techinical things. I started up with gadgets, fetched newer things on my articles, got no traffic as I was new into blogs. After writing so many articles I hardly started getting a traffic about 10-15 visits a day. Then I started experimenting, wrote articles on various websites, photoshop tutorials and few other things too. I all fascinated be in the start but sooner I realised that I had messed up that blog and there is no particular category that suits that blog. At the end, I dropped that blog bcoz it was of no use. But what I learnt from that is target specifically of what you want to do. Don't scatter your mind as it's gonna scatter your blog reader's mind too.

I hope you'd got what I wanna say.

Do check my blog and tell me here about how did you liked it.

I saw that blog. Its pretty nice but would be good if you get cars to review them. I get engineering samples from companies to review hardware- although not of them...yet. I used to post them on forums and thought using a blog as a dump for the time being.

Once she takes shape, she will become a Review/preview site. If that happens, we will have a proper place with proper testing methodology and equipment. For now, I am keeping her like this without any investment just for me to get used to it and have consistency in hardware reviews.

Yes Roshan, that's a nice tip. But I guess I need to grow a little more to achieve that as I live in a small city and I mostly write about international cars which are hardly present in my city. But will do that. Thanks for the concern.

;) Yeah man, you'll never know. 3 years ago I didn't remotely consider being a hardware reviewer and here I am.

Krystal Project is out of her initial shakedown and was given a complete refit with a new domain: Hardware BBQ. This is the best I could have done using blogspot. Let me know whatcha think :).
