Blog Targets for New Year - 2012

OK, let me start with myself. I am setting target for my story blog. At least one comlete story each week of 2012, that would mean 52 complete stories making total number of posts aprroximately equal to 208.

Ani, would you like to write 52 short stories in a year at high speed? Or would you rather take your time and think up twists and turns in your stories. I think 1 in 2 wweks is good. What say?

To tell you the truth, all turns and twists are not thought over time. In my case, whenever a plot comes to my mind, I take one or two days to complete the story in my mind, and when I write it, twists automatically come out.

What I am planning to do is devote around five-six days to write a story and then publish that in a series over the next week during which period I would be able to write a new one. What say?

OK, so the first story starts tomorrow :)

target for my blog Readitt (the e magazine)  will be to attract new readers and make an avg  20 comments/blogpost and 4000 avg page views/day.

For my blog, I would say, my target is quality and regularity. Be more regular as well as bring out great quality tech articles from various people under different platforms. :)

All the best buddy. But would not it be better if you set some definite target like how regular? This will actually help comparing your performance with respect to the target at the end of the year.

Oh yes, animesh. I think one post per week is quite achievable for me. I am more focusing on quality because there are tech blogs who post around 4 posts everyday and I know I wont be able to match that. There is a trade-off between the two(quality and quantity). If you try to publish your post hurriedly then quality gets compromised.

Replace tech articles with poetry and stories and you have my target. (and the different platforms too I suppose. maybe the quality too. (I hope not))

My target is to increase my blog's rating and visibility on Google and the web. SEO is what I'm gonna focus on apart from my articles...

No Ani. I mean Google Rank. Also, I would like to appear higher on Google search rankings...

OK OK. However these days GPR has been behaving abnormally. 

• Increase blog rating... check. Have to do that too.
• Visibility on Google and web... check. Have to do that too.
• SEO focus... oh. partly have to do it. Depends on progress. Lets see.

Whatever be the rank we are referring to, the factors taken into consideration remain the same: richness of content, frequency of posting, SEO, PR and Alexa Rank. It is as simple as that

ummm i guess it would be posting some more nice poems rather than filling my blog with my daily, useless chatter. And... updating it at proper times, reading the blogs of ALL the people who comment there which i mostly do but i dont find time to FOLLOW. so i will try and work on that this year.

You don't need world cup every year to keep writing on Cricket. This game has glorious past and you can write a lot, I mean a lot on this. For example, the recent post for KFC contest has nothing to do with World Cup. So much has happened in Cricket World man. India-Pak days, past worl cup, Sir Bradman, Sachin's awaited century's century, unfortunate exit of Rajesh Chauhan, Nayan Mongia, Graham Gooch who played till he was 50 and list goes on.

OK, here I set target for you. Your number of posts go up by 20% in 2012

As such I don't want to set any targets, expect that my blog should continue its journey atleast with one post a month :-)

But I have a few other targets. And the major one among them is to create a website about Java with rich content and numerous examples by the end of this July 2012.

Well, on a serious note, if we call it wishes rather than targets, I would say.

1. Publish a book

2. Start a serial story on my blog and get regular readership

3. Have all top bloggers lined up for my blog reviews

4. Do more book and movie reviews to improve my SEO

Aah that target is for someone else's benefit and this one os for us

Thanks, Animesh, DS. Book is just a thought since many friends told me. Either planning to make a story of my bride hunt or try a collection of short stories/poems. If my office guys crack down on me, nothing will happen. Most likely they will as this is my promotion year.

Even I need an autographed book.  Even I have a similar wish of publishing a book before I turn 25. 

I meant that I should publish my first book as soon as possible and in no way I meant that I will not be writing after the age of 25. It is a target that I set for myself. If I set no such targets, I might never the day when my book will be published!

Targets.. oh gosh, I don't do for my office work itself, how am I supposed to target in blog? LOL!

Jokes aside, my first target is to post one story and one pem (at least) each week. (the extreme target is to post each day, not sure how far I can take that). The latter I know is possible, and I will do, its the former that would challenge my muse.

Second, to not change platforms or URLs (unless moving to an own domain), read more and be read more.

Third, to try new forms of poetry. and more story series.

Fourth, to keep my Indirank in the 70s throughout. (this dont depend on me completely though )

I am more interested in your second target and would love to see it happening

Best of luck, Leo. Don't kill yourself writing. Take time, think and publish once a week. Read books , visit some places to get inspiration. Don't keep reading only blogs. There are better things to read then blogs. Look forward especially to more stories.

I don t think i will be able to supercede my blog posts in 2010, which is almost 64 blogs, more than one blog per week on average, it is hectic and if one has to keep the hectic travel one needs corporate funding Lolz.  Anyways let us hope for the best.  My aim is to explore northern India.
