Hope you all have noticed that we have launched the IndiBlogger of the Month in full swing. (We think it's in full swing, but if you see any bugs, do let us know Laughing).

So while bloggers are nominating themselves, let's decide on a category for April 2009!

Although month of April is going to end, but still i would like to recommend, a topic on let's say techonogy blogs... technology but not related to gadgets n electronics items... it shud b something different from leak... say sm1 is blogging about textile engineering... etc n all.... So that's diff.... So the topic title shud be... Engineering of Blogging.... or something like that... !!!! I know its tough to blog about this...

Hoping for the Best!!

Business...after all recession makes it important.

I think Election and Political Ambience should be the hottest topic of the month of Apr 2009.

There are many instances where people are not acting accordingly. Now it seems that they show only for publicity, which is sad as the voter eagerness is far far lower than what was expected after Nov 2008.

That's why, blog articles based on political viewpoints and the ambience should be the topic!

I think this time around, it should be All Rounder! what say?

Its recession time and  you need to be very prudent in all decision making process.

Hence, would like to have "business and Economy".

I also thnk the same...business and economy

I think this time it should be "Blog with a difference". For example if any person is using blogging in a different manner, or innovative manner, that person or his/her blog should get the booty.

It could be some lawyer who is providing legal advice through his blog, or some author who is serializing a novel through his blog post, or someone who is using a blog to rally support to a cause, or someone who has put his/her lifetimes research work on the blog, so that anyone can access it, etc.

Some different use of blog than the usual personal stuff, or money-making stuff, or tech stuff.

Business, politics, economy, technology are such boring topics!! Aren't there just too many blogs on such stuff?  How about something thats a bit more creative rather than just informative?

Hemal Shah

i know where you are coming from... i think the idea is not about more blogs or less. we have to take a topic which is commonly endorsed.

Not that i dont agree with your idea, but creative blogs can be defined in creative with content and creative with art. and all other blog you mentioned are creative in content.

I would like to see creative writers getting nominated... as for most of them recognition is most important! some of the indian blogs have great write ups and no monetary help like business and work blogs tend to get from adsense... and those upcoming poets, and writers need platforms like this :)

I agree.... Laughing but this time politics and current affairs blogs are fine...

I vote for this one! Technology related blogs are usually professionally done, by hired SEO ppl at times, to maximise their revenue generation potential. I would like to see a completely amateur blogger getting recognition for a change... just for his/her writing!

I think Anwin's suggestion of social causes relfecting personal experience would be apt. Like Hemal replied to that, bloggers might use a lot of imagination in it but either ways, its a social cause with an example.

Political blogs sold either the party that the blogger supports or created awareness of the scenario.

Tech blogs keep the reader informer and advised on whatever's new - Awareness again.

Its similar with the social causes - they promote awareness of awkward or appreciable happenings in daily life.

I think it would be nice to have social causes. I think the majority of people writing blogs might have some social cause in their post, if not tech or biz.

Nice angle to view it from this prespective. Yes, if Imagination can do some good, so be it.

A Blog on Social Causes (Second Varun on this... hope others follow!)

I second this. But we would to define Social Causes a bit more precisely to avoid confusion and to get the right kind of posts for evaluation.

Varun

Thanks Hemal and Mr.Balu. and yes, we need a more precise definition of social causes. Its a relatively broad subject.  how about - regional and environmental.

Arslan Aziz
from Hyderabad

@Varun: Won't 'regional and environmental' be too narrow? We will barely have enough blogs nominated to turn this into a contest!

Personally, I think we're being too 'politically correct' in going for a theme such as 'social causes'.

Hemal Shah

Guys, lets settle it to any thing and every thing on Social & Environmental causes. It can be anything.

As I said, if it is doing any good to the society, so be it. Lets first get it. Then we all would vote the one we think deserves the award. Well, I would be out of race if this category is choosen, but I think we should also give others a chance.

I "seriously" think some people may just go out of their way and do a Social Cause thing on their blog which they might never would have done otherwise. Request people to refrain from doing so. Every Blog has its day! Wait for yours.

Chicky Kadambari

I agree with Arslan. We ARE being too 'politically correct' in choosing the topics! Don't we have news channels discussing abt current affairs, social prbs, politics & the likes? It's really so easy to post content on current affairs (any topic in it in fact) because all you need to do is follow some news websites/blogs regulalrly, and the comments that pour in on such sites! Why not choose something original for a change? Completely original!

miss_teerious

Why not a blog centered on health or environmental issues, as these are the main concerns to humanity and suitable for April because of dates like World Health day (07th April) and World earth day (22nd April).

I think, running this theme for the month of April, Indiblogger will be able to inspire awareness and appreciation to earth's environment and will remind everyone to share a responsibility to protect our planet.

Thanks.
