Facebook Page vs Profile

I think everyone shares their content in Facebook but

  • Do you use page or your profile to share your content ? Why ?
  • How much readers you get from Fb ?
  • If you use page ? then do you share the same content in your profile again ? Doesn't it bug your friends ?
  • If you use profile then have you allowed followers ? does that hamper privacy ?

I'm not using FB for a long time now so your answers are really important to me. Smile

I have a profile linked page for my blog. And I don't share any stuff of my blog's page (except for a few instances), on my personal profile. I believe most of my friends won't be even knowing that the page belongs to me. Tongue out

Having a Page for your website is always recommended. And sharing content manually is preferred over sharing it automatically. You can choose what content to share, make the status FB-optimised Tongue out etc

I have a page for my blog but I must say tht I mostly get readers from my fb profile .. I think these days this page thing has become a kind of measure to count the number of followers ( I dnt allow followers on my fb profile which I deactivated a couple of months ago so now readers r depend on IB and page and google+ only .. CryFrown )

Have you created it ?

yes i did

Yes, I have a separate FaceBook page for my website..

FaceBook Profile vs FaceBook Page

Profile would be handled by individual where as in Page, I can appoint moderator as well as administrator.. It helps me to reply comments and engage with the visitors faster, since now others (who participate in my website) can also help me out..

FaceBook page also gets well integrated with the website and it helps to keep my personal ID and website separated !!!

Facebook page and visitor relation

For my subject, it helps me to stay connected with the readers !! Also it guaranties returning visits..

Presently I have 1500+ facebook fans and followers !!!

Privacy

Main reason to chose Page over profile is privacy as it helps to keep private profile and official website facebook page separated Sealed

Facebook has reduced the page reach % for some unknown reason earlier I used to get 25K to 35K visitors from FB now it is reduced to 10KCry

Finally someone who actually manages the page and checks the stats. That's true. I used to manage a page long ago and it use to have views but then after the change the views decreased a lot, I think it was done to earn more money as FB currently limits the reach of each post and gives you the option to promote each post individually. *Disgusted*

I was trying to take a FB URL but it is already taken and the surname first is also taken. What should I do ? Is putting a "dot" (period) or "-" (dash) impacts the URL or is it fine ?

I would suggest going for a URL without dots, dashes, numbers and any other symbols. Capitalise the first letter of each word in your URL.

I think dots and dashes in URL's do not matter. /A.L.i.g.ht.Hearted.Talk, /A-Light-Hearted-Talk etc etc are getting redirected to /ALightHeartedTalk. Innocent Or is it that they get redirected only if the dashes version is not taken by anyone else? Innocent

ProcessingTheLife and ProcessingTheCreativity are available. ArticulateView isn't. Is that what you are trying to register?

No, I was trying to register my name for profile and my name is not available. Just checked you can't use hash in Fb URL and the dot in between is also taken.

They are few namesakes who are really active, what will I do now ? :(( It's like there name will always show when someone will search the name in google. :((

This happens with almost everyone. Try adding some words before and after your name (like GaurabOnFb, WithGaurab, GaurabSpeaks etc ) or use use your full name.

P.S. I want ranjith.com. :((
