Is Your Site Adsense Ready?

Hey Guys this is Avi, It’s been quite a long time since I’m using Google Adsense on my blogs. I have started reading about it even before that. So I am a Self Proclaim Adsense Guru :D

On this forum I have noticed many bloggers using Adsense, but sadly they are not well aware of it & put it randomly, naturally their earnings is also low. So through this thread I am asking all those newbie or even amateur bloggers to participate  in chat, discuss & participate about AdSense.

Hi Avi,  I have been approved for adsense and even did a trial for a few days, but I have removed it for now. Will use ads when I have a few thousand visitors a day (if ever).

How about sharing some adsense tips anyway?

Sure...

I believe the main three pillars to achieve Adsense are

1. Qulaity Contents.

2. Proper SEO

& 3. Traffic.

If you have these, You are a Winner.

I get 100 page views on an average in a day. But still I can't see any increase in my adsense earnings. Sometimes I get around 0.01$ and not above that.

The main problem with your site is its html based, no proper contents on it. Ad crawler read your contents, then only provide ads. Pick a good niche (your best hobby) & start a blog with a good blogger templates.

Aaron, I have to say that you have a wonderful blog with amazing posts. Very good content that is intellectually pleasing. And no wonder, you are not getting a lot of adsense income. I can see a couple of issues with your blog.

  1. Your blog is about algorithms and math. Are you even getting 1000 hits per day? I guess, not. If you can manage to get 1000 hits per day, you can expect to earn at least $1.00 per day. I run a personal blog too with a lot of tech and math in it but it has some non-tech miscellaneous as well as controversial posts as well. From the logs and Google Analytics, I learnt that people, in general, love miscellaneous and controversial posts away more than mathematics and algorithms. So, how do we solve it? Don't target general audience at all. If you are relying on Indiblogger solely for your visitors, you'll get 99% visitors who do not like mathematics and algorithms and 1% who like math and algos. So, you are getting very few repeat visitors. I would suggest that once in a while when you write a very good blog post that you are especially proud of, you post it in relevant communities, e.g. http://www.reddit.com/r/algorithms and http://www.reddit.com/r/math.
  2. Secondly, your blog is too plain. It would be good to have very clear visual aids about where one component in your blog ends and where the other begins. For example, borders around each widget, blog post, etc. Currently, everything looks similar. Good visual aids and formatting may help the ads to stand out.
  3. It might be a good idea to make the sidebar ad (top-right corner), image ads only. This can be changed from the adsense unit settings in your adsense account. I have seen that sidebar ads get more clicks if they are image-or-media-rich-only. I believe this is because a complete image in the sidebar looks more visually pleasing and attractive than the links. I've always fealt that the way Google formats the links in the rectangle ads are pretty ugly.

google allows to place 3 adunits on blog now a days many sites and blogs are showing more than 3 adunits.

question is does google change the policy of 3 ad unit limit or there is differece between

homepage ad unit and  inside a post adunit.

Avi

Nope. It' still 3 ad units & link units +2Search boxes.

but you can always use additional units through DFP. If you are interested in learning, then ask for it ;)

How would you defend yourself from click bombs? If you account gets deactivated due to clickbomb what would one do? Is there a procedure or link to a form to be filled to recover the account?

Avi

The most easiest way to defend your site from a possible sabotage is keep an eye on your account regularly & if there is any suspicious activity, report it to Google Adsense forum. Top Contributors & Google Pro will handle it.

But the Best Option, Remove your site from Allowed site, so that even someone keep clicking on your ads, it wont cost the advertiser, thus wont be treated as click fraud. You can also remove your ads to save your account.

I somehow don t trust that there is much earning to be made from adsense unless one starts doctoring. I know many guys did it and were caught in the bargainSmile

To make money from AdSense, You (everyone) need lots pf traffic. That's the key.

The Sorcerer

Actually, you can earn. Not 100%, but about 60-65% you can. See, it all depends on how much traffic you can get, but people need to realize that being on shared is not going to help. A lot of these SEO guys don't point out that in shared connection, a lot of websites in shared server have a common IP, and if one of them is a bad site that google bashed it, it affects you guys. A lot of these SEO guys don't even talk about CMOD and MySQL settings which matters from VPS and beyond. There are even shared services which allows about 6-8 websites per shared connection only. I think if you do a reverse IP check, you'll find about 10-20 websites with your IP address. There were times I used to check some blog's ip address, and some were spammy and some are porn. There are those who use shared connection for bulk email spams as well so....

The point is: like business which carries a certain risk and also requires a lot of time and effort which may still fail, a website will also require it.

i only see that my site is not ready for adsense,

I have in the range of 1000-1500 hits/day. I am almost nil in this SEO thingy. My adsense earnings are pretty low. I am a very amateur adsense blog user. Please suggest something doc Avi Cry

Few days back I visited your site, its a nice one i mist say, the only thing you have to change to boost your earnings is your theme. pick an adsense friendly theme (Google it), I can see only one adunit, Travel is one of the most lucreative & Adsense friendly niche to earn money. You need to put an adunit under the post title & below your post to earn max...

If your next question is how to put those, then search it or ask me :)

Hey, thanks a lot Avi! You are right, I have given very limited space to ads on my blog. The reason being, that though I have initiated adsense, my main aim is not making money out of my blog. I dont like ads popping up in places where the content should be coming as a reader and hence would really not like to do the same..

Still, theme is something that can be changed and I will certainly look into that suggestion..

Thanks a lot Avi for the detailed diagnosis Smile

Theme is good, if i'm not wrong, this is also using by Amit Bhawani & Gadget Cage. it's Adsense friendly & you just need ORIGINAL contents (copyspace check: http://www.copyscape.com/?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.knowthetech.com%2F) don't copy as many times Bot checks thether your contents are real or not, if they see any violation, they will disable your account.

First I don't see any reason to keep the account active on such blog. F word is stictly prohebited & even before sigining up, you should read the ToS. Once desaibled, gone for lifetime.

thanks again for your responses :)

one more thing: just want to know: are these stats & alexa rank related? yesterday my AR was 404,222 and today it is 388,109. what does it mean ??? when the numbers go down like that?

Alexa rank is better when lower, rank determines by global daily traffic & your traffic pageviews. To the most easiest manner, its (ranking based on) a percentage of the global pageviews.

SubhashChy

Alexa ranking is not something you should worry about if you are not doing some ad compaigns like CPA, Buy sell ads, or direct ads from advertiser.

Your Alexa rank is one of the determinant of sits's traffic & popularity. MozRank is another important factor along side Google Page Rank.

Hey Avi.My opinion based website- The Forthright is just starting but I would like your kind advice in the begning itself :D

Avi

First of all, I have started this thread to discuss whether Your weblog is ready for AdSense or not, if your alreadey running AdSense, then how to optimize it.

@Monica: If your aim is to monetize your site through AdSense, then you need to focus on a single topic. Though topics of your sites won't suitable for targeted ads, You need thousands if not millions of pageviews to earn enough from a news site.

Build your reader base don't copy from others, think HATKE! then put ads on your site. Avoid Pop ups.

Thanks avi for such a nice thread.I have visited your site apexblooger.com.The content is good. But there are lots of social links in there and it takes lot of time to load the site. The right column is not aligned properly(not sure if only i have this problem).

I just want to know that does site load time affect your google ranking??

Avi

Currently my friend is creating a template for me & that site's temp is temporary. You can call it is in BETA right now.

Load times does effect a bit right now, but then, I have my major audience pie from social networks.

Thanks for your advice. Laughing
