The title says it all.

I didnt like the theme, really doesn't fit in to a website which is covering news.

Secondly, I would prefer to see this running in self hosting with theme which is more on news related websites.

Personal view, you only have option with Disqus commenting options. Cry

Hunky, you don't have to create a profile to comment on Disqus. You can post as "anonymous" or "guest" or just type in a name.

I installed Disqus on request from international readers. Disqus is a popular easy method to comment on multiple blogs and keep track of your comments and replies etc. Lets see how it goes down with the Indian audience.

By theme, do you mean the template? I've been tinkering around with templates on Blogspot, searching for alternatives for some time. Stay tuned. Or, alternatively, let me know if you have a theme in mind that you can suggest.

Thanks.

You have a theme which is mroe suited for personal blogs, a story a day or such, where as your topi allows you to blog multiple topics matter of fact some time multiple topics an hour also.

Typical blogging theme, one post after another type thing is not something suited for your need, where if you google about "news website template" you may get an idea as what I am trying to mean.

@hunky.

What do you think of the new design/template?

@Hunky

For the moment, coming up to a one month anniversary, I have no plans to move away from the free Blogspot platform so my choice of templates is limited to what they offer.  I wouldn't classify my blog as a news website; it is a place for selective political commentary. I refer you to blogs of political analysts/commentators/pundits in the U.S. like conservative Michelle Malkin (just add dot com).

I do want to find a way to create independent pages and categorize the content for easier access to the reader. Do you have a hack suggestion or is there a way to do that on Blogger that I haven't discovered yet?

Thanks for your inputs.

Nice blog, a different and a fresh perspective to whats happening round the globe.

A few suggestions on design -

  • Consider changing the background image - it is distracting to the eyes. I would recommend a solid background colour, that will make it easier on the eyes and will also give a neater look to the blog.
  • The fonts in the sidebar can be changed to something formal, easy to read.

Content wise the site is excellent but just needs a bit brushing up on design, i feel.. Rest is great! Keep Blogging,

Best wishes,

Arti

Nice blog. However I am not strongly into current affairs. As others pointed out the theme is distracting. And I do not know how well a blog as a discussion forum will work in the current times of Twitter. May have worked 4 years back. And internet is already budegoning with News Blog and you run the risk of becoming a 'me too'. So such a general focus may not get you much audience. You should probably looking at narrowing your focus and finding a niche for yourself.

I really like that you have maintained the frequency of your posts. A 'commentator' should be a 'bit' talkative.

The only thing I would like to suggest would be changing your archive section so that one can take a sneak peak at everything you have written or atleast some of it.

It's a good start, keep commentating :)

Hi Rachit.

Thanks for checking it out.

Yeah, I had the Blog Archive as "daily" like yours until yesterday. I'm tinkering around with the design based on reader feedback this week. You're only the second person to see the new pages heading on the homepage! I guess I'll move back to the daily version of the Blog Archive - I prefer that too, even if some say it looks "cluttered".

Please come back and hang out anytime now that you have the address.

Hello everybody. I just installed my very first customized template and then customized it further for my needs. So anybody who wants to review the new design and look and feel (same content), please feel free to hop over to my sparkling new blog. Also, it's purple.

I am much into blog designing so to be frank I can only review your blog design and I am a little behind on current affairs so I am a noob to be judging your content Laughing. As for the template that you customized...Well I think it looks Kicka**!! Wink Just rectify something....I guess you have a coding bug in your template for eg. "href="http://storify.com/punditcomment/stupid-eav-secret-badge" target="blank">View the story "Stupid #EAv " on Storify]</a&g..." These type of coding parts are visible on your blog just before the read more of the posts. Just fix this error and your blog is as good as any other professional blog! Cool

Hope my review helps you!

Hi Rahul,

So sweet of you to drop by to review the new design. And yes, you caught it correctly - when I embed content from Storify.com, it doesn't come off cleanly. I think I've managed to fix that coincidentally the same time you were writing this. So now when you look at the blog, you'll see [view story ].

Thanks very much for taking a look at the design, there are a few minor irritants still (as SS/Kolkata identified) and I'm too scared to play around with the html any further so I'm afraid I'm stuck with this for some time.

Keep original blogging!

Hehe, Good to see that you rectified your coding error. I came to know that you are having problems in getting your facebook fan page "like" button in the blog. What is the problem? (maybe I can help...as I know a little bit of HTML/CSS)

Hey Rahul,

Again, very sweet of you to notice that. I'll explain the FB like button problem.

I installed it just fine on my blog some weeks ago. Then, I re-designed the blog with a new custom template I downloaded off the internet. That screwed everything up and I spent a day fixing it all - is sab ke beech mein, I removed the fb like button widget just for simplicity as I play around with HTML for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE! :-)

haha

Well, now that I want to re-insert the widget, the dialogue box is jammed/frozen/hung - take your pick on terminology.

I discovered this some weeks ago when FB launched the send button and I tried to download both like/send. Did not work then. Does not work now. No clue what to do.

You try it with my url and let me know if you get the code. If you do, pass it on and I'll try it out.

Thanks so much for offering to help.

Hi Akhil!

That's really nice of you to take the time to drop by and give me your thoughts. Thanks very much. :-)

Yes, I will get my own domain name in due time. I just started out in earnest almost 8 weeks ago. I am learning the ropes as I do. Learning by doing. :-) I know nothing about the technical aspects of blogging.

But I am not running a news site. It is still a blog at the end of day. I pick whatever topic or story or news or political/social issue that sparks my interest at that time. :-)

Please do let me know more of your thoughts about my blog. I love feedback and criticism. :)
