i think paid ad works if the blog is professional or a particular niche having regular content ....i dont see much benefit if the blog is personal...i could be wrong

I used it when it was new. At that time with $5 it used to reace around 10K people or so. With interesting share I got around 100 new page likes for $5 campaign. But its been changed now... you get less audience like 3K or so and the campaign runs for 2 days only instead of 3-5 days previously.

Just wrote a blog post on Facebook Advertising few days back. Hope you get some insights from that post. I wont suggest to go for paid advertising especially on Facebook. I personally handled some facebook pages and ran few ads for some weeks. We got new page likes but the engagement levels has gone down drastically. Facebook algorithm has changed in the last few months. One typical post reaches only 10% of your readers on a facebook page. i.e. 10 out of 100. Out of that 10, chances are that only 2-3 likes the posts. So if I liked your post means  that 10% of my friends would see on their feed that I Liked your post. 

So if you need more page views, you can advertise or if you need more engagements, you dont advertise and rather concentrate on your facebook posts.
