Is Google Only Favoring Big Websites and punishing Small Blogs?

Irrespective of content quality, backlinks, authority and domain age Google seems to be strongly favoring big media houses for any content, from the end of 2017.

What are your opinions and experiences? Please share?

Well, you need to take into account the amount of content those larger sites put up per day. On top of it, they get onboard event bloggers and paying them salary+ employee benefits. Smaller bloggers/independent websites push out content push out so much content in a month large websites do on a daily basis- or even in few hours. On top of it, most of these media house websites have been running for a long time with a certain amount of consistency. And they don't build backlinks artificially- like going to somebody's comment section and making comments with links embedded in it. People actually share them everywhere. Sites are run by a lot of people. Blogs are run by how many? One? Two? Not a fair comparison, is it?

Most of the smaller blogs regurgitate content, especially from such large websites. No opinions. No balanced POV. Most bloggers rewrite content from other websites and just gobble it up without thinking about it. Furthermore, they use clickbaity titles, use artificial methods of link building, no engaging content. It is even worse when you include bloggers that with no ounce of shame and plagiarise content from well-qualified subject experts just to embed links for Goodknight. Why would Google not generalize all bloggers and penalize them? It practically becomes a case of micromanaging and it is not possible to dedicate resource to something where people find a workaround eventually. Bloggers should get their act together and stop ruining it for everyone. SEO 'tricks' do not work, and if they do then the Google algorithm will simply pick it up and penalize websites. If you cant make your content- even take your own photo for featured images or call paragraphing specifications of any products into a review- then it is about time people should reconsider blogging in general. The only part which is sad that people who make great content and can push their blogs to get a satisfying traffic gets affected. But they understand why as well.

If you still make good content, there's still a risk of people not reading it. That's how it works. That is how an independent website works. Some fail. Some succeed. Even in show business. Bigger websites fail, too. It is rare since they are either sold to another company, outsourced or have the entire editorial replaced- sometimes even overnight. Infomedia 18 has a good experience with it, even with brands like CHIP, AV Max, T3, etc. Even Yellow Pages, too. Except when they cut, they do when they face huge loss and lose good employees. They take an equal amount of risk to succeed at the same time.

You're so right, TS. Good content and a fairly ok frequency of posting too gets eventually over-shadowed by the big players... and Google isn't helping individual bloggers. It cannot because the evaluation processes at its end are meant to club segments. However, I am happy with whatever readership I have for my blog. :)

I was not taking of non-serious bloggers - just check the traffic drop on good bloggers like harsh on shoutmeloud, Techpp.com or even igyaan these are people who have been blogging for ages and Google thinks these sites are low quality and penalized these in recent algo updates. People who want to make a living blogging, need to rethink their career choices :)

Well, Google made Blog Compass. If Google had intentions that you've mentioned, they wouldn't have made this tool.
