According to me Mohini gr8 blogging depends on the depth of the subject matter and practical suggestions :

1.  Tips to travellers in the form of directions preferable a Map like Arti s blogs example

2.  Title of the Blog is key to attracting attention For ex : Ajanta abandoned....Legacy lives on

3.  Video link from youtube of own preferably and if not with due acknowledgement from other sites.

4.  Oh my goodness, i don t want to hog the brickbats with your guideline being oneline TIPS

Thank god, google and with the gift of your gab.....Cool one can succeed.  It is 90% perspiration and 10% inspiration, shooting pics, photoshop, resizing, video film etc requires lot of patience and effort dear.  Add map to a travelouge is a gr8 idea, but you got to buy the maps scan and than edit it to guide

My tip is to choose a topic that you care very, very deeply about (so you dont have as much writer's blog, though believe me it'll still happen) and then try to find some (unique or otherwise) way of looking at it that other people might also enjoy. (I mean that only if you, like me, write for an audience. But if not then why ask? Write what you love.)

thats an important point, passion & interest in a topic begets best post.

Arti
from Mumbai
Yes write only on the topics that interest you or else the quality of the post gets degraded.
Sakhi Shah
from Vadodara

Exactly. I've tried loads of blogs on random topics hoping I'd get to know more on the topics as I wrote (or I was aiming for an audience) but that just plain doesnt work out.

Mohini Puranik
from Dhule

That's really important Sakhi!

Pundit Commentator

Excellent point, Sakshi.

minimising hurdles  (captcha code etc.) in posting of comments by visitors.

Arti
from Mumbai
Pramodji, that is for spammers... Even with the code I get spam comments many times... Any alternative?

i use intense debate, no spams till now. and f.b. comments too. lucky enough.

we can surely delete spams easily. what happens is, one reads, enjoys, then writes, racking up to find suitable words. then posts. and gets out thinking he has commented. but then again another page has turned up to decipher th jumbled code and write in caps lock n plain etc. so either you missed the comment or he takes double pains to pass that hurdle too.

using disqus or intense debate, is easy and simple. and jazzy too.

Lighthouse Insights

indeed PL :)

Mohini Puranik

Pramodji this is best imp tip. Coz this happens exactly with me when I comment. I wish to use Intense debate or disqus , but what will happen to my previous comments? Can you please guide me?Undecided It's so easy for the readers just to enter name and email.

You are right mohini Ji I opted to forgo my previous comments and give a new beginning to my blog. Better late than never. Back comments stil remains in database of blogspot , can be retrieved anytime.
Arti
from Mumbai
You have a point there Pramodji... But every system has its pros and cons, I too did not have word verification earlier but used to receive upto even 40 spam comments per month sometimes, it becomes very difficult then to separate the genuine comments... Also the site loading time increases considerably by using some of these systems and it also affects the google search results... Also one cannot comment from the mobile in disqus... So one has to weigh up the options available before going for anything. As to which one suits his blog better in terms of site performance.
Site load time increases, this is minus factor. You are right, it's choice of blogger
Arti
from Mumbai
And with my posts already having many pics this factor really becomes major!
DS

I too dont like other plugins... To enter the name, email and the blog address takes a long time when compared to the 5-7 random small case alphabets!!!

Mohini Puranik
from Dhule

I liked Intense debate. @DS - your vision sounds nice, but it's easy to put your own e - mail and website, than to type some unknown words! This is my view.

DS

Can we comment from the mobile phone, not an I phone but a normal smart phone with opera mini browser??

Mohini Puranik
from Dhule

@Arti - I saw one blog with lot of spams, so it's really tough in that case to delete all. In intense debate, there is a feature where we can block spam.

One line blogging tip : dont take urself too seriously....
Madhumathi
from Hyderabad

In which case?

DS
from Mumbai

??

Arti
from Mumbai
Meaning?
tys
from Sharjah

meaning : its easy for a reader to figure out when the post is sincere...its boring when the whole tone of a post becomes judgemental, moralistic and preachy...so taking a look ( iam refering to personal blogs) at life with a lil bit of humour makes the whole thing more interesting....lets face it, noones interested in your life, unless its entertaining to them...so it helps if you dont take urself too seriously...

did that make sense?

Arti
from Mumbai

Ya... That is correct... Too much preachy, too boring!!

well explained tys. thats why I tend to write to the point in as less words possible.Smile

Tip for great blogging?

Depends on what is "greatness" for you in a blog:

- A channel to express yourself? Then keep it going, break language barriers, speak what your heart and mind says. Damn with the rest of the world.

- Or, A channel to earn money? Appease your target reader segment, advertise.....

- Or, something else?

Mohini Puranik

Expect the UnExpected!

Mohini Puranik
from Dhule

means positive and negative! ???

Hemal Shah
from Mumbai

Somewhat true Mohini but its more of a statement than just three words.

Expect the unexpected is somehting that I have followed in my life and it has proved true from time to time... I have always got something in my life that is unexpected of me for my capacity or capability, but yeah when i think if that is unexpected (just like govinda getting katrina in Partner movie), i can well expect that too.. so its only positive to think, the results may be negative or positive that wont matter because you will be prepared to face either!!

Mohini Puranik
from Dhule

@Hemal! So philosophical! But ya! I can understand it very well, just felt I have won a running race.......You write so thoughtful, which expresses thoughts which can be easily understood, if you wish to, and otherwise it is very simple which is not understandable still likable but not complicated!

Anyway, about life i totally agree, even I really don't knw what's gonna happene next, many of my plans seem failed but the unexpected is too much great than the simple plans, so be positively prepared ......as what you said!
