Kindly review my blog on Indian Fountain Pens, Books, HMT Watches

This is a blog that devotes itself predominantly to Fountain Pens of India, more specifically, Indian Handmade Fountain Pens made by very niche firms like Deccan Pens, Hyderabad; Ratnam Pens and Guider Pens from Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh; Gama Pens and ASA Pens from Chennai, and other now closed firms like Prasad Pens, Asoka Pens, Hema Pens, Misak Pens, and others.  Pens featured here are made of materials like ebonite, celluloid, and acrylic.  The blog also features other Indian fountain pens made by well-known companies like Camlin, Chelpark, etc.  From what I have seen, this blog is probably the only one that focuses majorly on Indian Handmade Fountain Pens.  Apart from fountain pens, the blog focuses also on books, music (to some extent), and HMT watches.

Interesting blog, your nice seems to be quite different and interesting. My father owned a HMT watch, one of those that had to be keyed to be set in motion, though I could never fathom how to operate it.

Your posts on books and reviews are delightful too, along with the pictures you uploaded. In all, one of the truly interesting blogs I have come across off late, and I subscribed. Keep Blogging :)

Dear Mr Narasimha Sharma,

Thanks so much for reviewing my blog and for the kind words.  I am pleased that you find my blog interesting.  I shall endeavour to keep it that way and thanks for subscribing too.  And if I may suggest, all HMT showrooms are closing one by one, buy an HMT mechanical watch for posterity or better still locate your father's HMT watch, it is priceless...winding it quite simple actually...every morning wind it clockwise 20 times..it should do for the next 24 hours...I wear one every day...

Regards...

Some of your featured images like 'Lead Tin Yellow' and 'Chai, Chai'. The actual images are small, but you enlarged it which makes it look pixelated. You can upload larger files and shrink down to size as long as the image's aspect ratio is maintained, but enlarging small images is not a good idea. Since you're having the book with you, be creative in taking photos of a book. Something like with a background, a cup of coffee....something that goes well with the colour of book and its theme.

Rather than having the entire post to be featured in the main site, only have an excerpt and feature image per article on the main site. Those who are interested will open the content and read it. What you're doing will take a lot of time for people to scroll down and may even lose interest.  Not sure what kind of camera you're using, but it could be clearer. First, take pictures in landscape format and not in portrait mode. Too many tilted photos are not good. Just take the picture from top down position. There seems to be a light reflecting on the glass. Are you using a continuous light source or something like a camera flash??? Let the flash's light bounce from the ceiling (assuming it's white) so that the ceiling acts as a diffuser and spreads the light evenly on the cloth. The following image I am using is taken with a canon 600D with the stock kit lens, but I started from a Rs. 4,000 worth camera. Back then, I stuck a semi-transparent plastic held by a tape to use it as a diffuser. Keep the images within the content border. Once you're consistent and want to grow by doing watch reviews, get your own domain name, get a proper theme, maintain a single or two topic-based site and contact brands in India. If they see the consistency, they'll be interested. Its a long term plan, and maybe something you might not be interested in. But hey, you'll never know. I joked about able to run for a site for atleast a year but here I am almost 5 years!

Dear Sorcerer...at the outset, thanks for reviewing my blog and thanks for the detailed comments...I usually scan the cover pages and then post them, but for the two recent posts on books, I couldn't because my scanner was on the blink...you can see some previous posts where the scanned picture of book covers appear without the pixellation...

I see your point about the watch photos...as you see I want to feature HMT watches, which went out of fashion long ago and are now slowly going out of market too ... so, as far as b*****ng etc., is concerned, I am slightly more academic oriented for that, as you might have guessed...but whatever I have and want to post, I will make sure that I follow your advice reg. the use of flash...

Thanks once again.
