I was doing research on a number of humor bloggers. Because right now most humor writers are choosing viral sites over beginning their own blog from scratch.

I've found many humor blogs. Most famous ones were started between 2006 to 2008. And stopped either updating or regularly updating.

This made me ask the question, that Is humor blogging dying because of viral websites? Or new humor bloggers are getting enough traffic and motivation to spread chuckles daily.

Dear, the ultimate aim of any blogger is to be read by maximum number of people. If they have monitized the blog, they certainly will also be interested in getting maximum revenue. Nowadays, readers have become more subject centric and are not interested to waste time outside their interests. That is the reason for blogs related to specific subjects such as technology, fashion etc getting more traffic.  In other words, reading has been reduced to a tool for collecting information from a tool for enjoyment. Hence, the visitors for humour sites have reduced. In viral sites they will get more visitors as their articles also will get noticed when the readers search for some vital information.

I believe only SEO will save you. By cutting in competition with news website with higher domain authority. What do you say?

God knows

As a humor blogger, who has done a bit of research into reading habits if modern readers, I can tell you hardly anyone reads humor. They are not taken seriously.

same, I've put a poll at the end of the post. To see that is anyone reading or not. And I noticed the same. I'm thinking about changing the strategy in blogging. Thanks for affirming the same view.

There comes a time all type of writers should re-invent themselves. Nobody wants to read unless its a useful information. Just to get a laugh, memes are enough now. Those who don't re-invent their content will eventually shut down. A specific niche that appeals to a certain crowd are the ones who could prevail as they target a specific audience, not the random general population. Though it is not humour exactly, clients of hell is a perfect example of such websites. Not many general populations may have heard about it but many people associated with freelancing or assignment or client servicing would know about it.

Humour is difficult to define... and it is difficult to write something new all the time. Many bloggers who sat on humour-platforms found at some stage that they are getting repetitive and using similar sentence formations. I'm sure even they must've yawned when they read what they had written. This is possibly why they seem to have faded. But the truth is that they are only searching for new ways of telling stories. After all, they aren't all as talented as PG Wodehouse or Lawrence Durrel... and need breaks to rediscover their love for humour. With enough practice and perseverence they can, of course, beat even PGW at his game.

Humour in blogs is very much alive... it is possible that you haven't made efforts to find them out.

The reason behind most Indian humor bloggers leaving blogging may be due to WhatsApp humor, Social networking humors, its observation nearby and Political humors (including Assembly and Parliament action) etc.Laughing

Ha! Ha! But it will be better if humour bloggers were not disheartened by the deluge of slapstick and repetitive jokes on whatsapp and continue witht he good work they were doing.
