Most bloggers who start with a commercial motivation will fail. Even with 2 lakh page views, you get peanuts from Adsense. Unlike hobbyists or writers who use blogs simply to display their work- 'commercially motivated bloggers' have 1 goal in mind- make money. Main motivation should be- what am I good at and is it something I can keep making fresh content to gain more audience who will trust in what I say. Because bigger audience base that trusts you= money....eventually. Motivation should be an interest which you want to be in. The ultimate goal is to gain credibility. Credibility gains regular readers. Regular readers who trust you share your content more than random visitors. That gains more regular readers with same interests. AskVG is a perfect example. I remember seeing that website around since the late 90s. He used to post in tech forums. Back then, techtree was an active tech media in india. He never used to have his website links in his signature or his profile. But he always helped and gained credibility enough that people wanted to know more for him. Once you establish yourself, you get contacted by people who want to advertise in your website through some means. Most want sponsored content. Others want ad space. Add affiliate system wherever possible in the middle without compromising credibility with sponsored content, its then you have a good plan. If you see financially successful bloggers, most of them don't start to earn money for a long time through any means. Rather its to show what they are good at and how to keep making content around it. The rest of the financially successful bloggers start blogs as an extension of their careers- photographers, videographers, advertisers, chef, engineers, doctors, chartered accountants, etc. Many well known blogs dont even have a business model despite having a good site. A website called SMXHOAXSLAYER is covered by many types of media since they debunk most of the propaganda. They do good research, but most of the information is available when you right click on original images and do a google search. But if you see the website, despite a good mainstream coverage and reader base, it is hard to commercialize it because of the type of content. It takes time. But once you gain an audience you will automatically come up with a plan. Coming up with a plan on day 1 is a recipe for failure in most cases.

Blogging isn't only about writing... there are elements like photography, illustrations, caricatures, drawings, and paintings too that one can keep sharing. However, the main reason why blogging thrives is good and wholesome writing. So those who find writing boring and a chore do tend to driftaway away from blogging and into whatever else that fascinates their abilities. Money, power, gifts, fame, name, prizes, and other such things are transcient and come and go at different times.

I think people whom you have mentioned, should have started their blogs in the first place for earning money and rankings.

I don't think passionate bloggers who love to showcase their skills never faced such a situation. I started my blog 6 years back. My writing skills were far below average when I started it. I don't post articles as frequent as others. I never knew earning through blogging even existed when I started and I don't have plans for that anytime soon in the future. My posts are scattered across various topics (photography, drawings, social causes and personal) and I know that blogs that are focused on a single topic have excelled mostly and I simply I don't care about it.

But I follow few of the leading bloggers here in IB who excel by writing quality posts. The effort they spend on each post, reflects in their content and hence they are rewarded for that equally (Money, Fame, Ranks, etc...) They have earned it over a period of time and not just a day.

What motivates me to write articles ?

  • Because I love learning new things and write posts from what I have learnt.
  • Because people appreciate you for the content that you create. It makes me feel good.
  • I can interact with people of same interest and learn more from their way of doing it.
  • Sometimes competing in small contests and winning gives me motivation.

Tips and Tricks to improve rank and earn money? I will join and learn it with you from someone who has more knowledge on that. Smile

You can find lots of tips and tricks on Google but what important as  your reason behind writing your blog. If one thing doesn't come out well, trying something else. Choose various topics and see their performances.

Enjoy writing as well as reading. The life is full of inspiration.  Look around and write whatever comes in your mind. Write till your feels happy...
