When we expect others to read our blog, forum posts we sometimes forget that we too should read other blogs and posts. Unless we respect each others views and writings, we can't expect others do it.

What do you feel?

I do read. But, reading others have made me feel worthless and I decided to take a break from blogging. I do it only once in a while now. I am trying to get better nowadays. Hope I get better. Smile

I read others blogs, infact I check every blog in my network everyday morning. All blogs I add to my network are ones that interest me a lot. So reading every new post in these blogs keeps my mind active and at tiems does inspire and influence my blog posts.

If you read blogs from your network thats fine. but being a blogger if you don't read others thats not a good sign.

Reading other blogs is essential to gauge your own standard of blogging. If you read and comment on others blogs, you tend to write much better. Ofcourse, you may attract some readers to ur own blog as well.

In spite of having good content, many good blogs have died down due to a lack of audience. I regularly check on blogs that i enjoy and read their contents. Through indiblogger i have taken up the cause to review peoples blogs and hence get the chance to visit them and read them and any interesting blog immidiately figures on my followers list.

another main reason why people dont read someone elses blog is due to the url. The most common thing for people to do is to have thier names as the url which automaticaly gives the perception that it is a personal blog. One major way to attract people to ones blog is to have a url which would reflect the blogs theme and content. Take my blog for example: http://adityasmoviereviews.blogspot.com/

I reflects what my blog holds, which i feel is essential to attract visitors.

The name of the blog should reflect its content is a good point. Sometime the blog may contain of variety of materials.

That is one reason why it may contain a general name.

My 2 paisa on this. I personally am not here to find more readers for my blog here. Not that, I'ld not be happy if I find some, but that is not the primary motive. Beacuse, I believe, the real readership is not in here. It is out there.

This is more of a platform that helps you enrich your blog. But, thats just me.

@Aditya Tibrewala I agree, having the theme in the blog url is a good thing and I learnt it the hard way (and did not do anything about it :|). I realise, not just the readers, even the search engines like that.

Well, if I dont read other blogs, how do I find blogs to add to my network.. ?

Checking out the review forum and home page to find interesting bogs, reading them or  reviewing them, adding them to my network is a daily task... then comes the joy of regularly reading all blogs in my ever growing network.

Hello,

This seems to be interesting.

I believe a simple comment helps rather a full fledged silent readers.

Either way, a comment describes the fact if you're good or bad. It's not like you're left hanging in the middle.

And I do agree to the fact, a sensible URL doesn't hurt.

yes, leaving a comment is a feedback to the writer. If one leaves silently and returns, that is also a kind of feedback, but writer won't know it.

As a blogger I feel good to see a comment left by readers, even if it is positive or negative and I expect most of the bloggers to be like this too.

I do generally check the blogs of those who have left comments in my blog. But only if the content is something of my interest I will keep returning to that blog. What ever be the case whenever I visit a blog I try to leave a comment just to make a statement that I was here and what I felt about reading a particular blog.

If the blog contains many article which I wish to read, I will definitely follow them or bookmark the blog for future reading.
