Sorry for the late response on this folks - the early bird entries don't go to the first 20 posts, that wouldn't make any sense; instead they will be announced at regular intervals throughout the contest as entries come in. Basically, any post that isn't submitted in the last 2-3 days qualifies for an early bird!

Ah! That is much better - Some compensation for posts not making it to the top of the popularity lists.

they will be announced at regular intervals throughout the contest as entries come in

I didn't get this

The logic is weird, I'm not able to get this. How will someone know there entry is "early bird" and will you announce the time from when the entries won't qualify for early bird. Because this will only create confusion.

any post that isn't submitted in the last 2-3 days qualifies for an early bird!

Early bird refers first come first serve, it's not "early bird" rather consolation prize.

how will it be selected? what will it be the criteria?

Anita

the early bird entries ... will be announced at regular intervals throughout the contest as entries come in.

Renie, If this is the case, then why not make the entries public as & when they are posted (like IndiSpire & DoRight?)

What is the point of keeping the entries hidden if winners will be announced at regular intervals?

Also, another Qn- When will IB take the snapshott for this contest? As soon as we submit the entry? (And not at the end of the contest?)

I have just written my entry... Wondering what to do... Waiting for your answers...

I agree with Renie just writing a post early should not win it should be good enough to qualify as an early bird winner. Early bird prizes will create a good number of participation during the contest. A good step I must say.. Smile

@Anita I agree with your point of displaying of the entries during the contest.

Anita
from Bhubaneswar

@Aditya, Yes, early bird prizes surely motivate and encourage us to post early.

I feel entries should be displayed during the contest as people will anyhow know about the early bird winners before the end of the contest...

Nandini Deka
from Bombay

i dont agree entries being displayed...even in some other contests there were early bird or indi patanni and were fine without entries displayed

Anita
from Bhubaneswar

@ND, I suggested making entries public as result announcement will be an ongoing process at regular intervals throughout the contest.

Hidden entries are great if all the winning entries - grand-prize winners as well as early-birds- are declared after the contest.

Nandini Deka

they'll just announce couple of early birds during the contest...rest of early birds they'll announce later on...thats my understanding....

Hi Renie - a query!

Did not quite understand this new concept of Early Bird. I submitted my entry around 3am. Am uncertain about its fate now, does it qualify for the early bird?

Nandini Deka
from Bombay

i think it'll be considered along with posts that come in...only entries posted on last few days wont be considered

Gaurab
from New Delhi

Since which post will be considered "early bird" and what will be the selecting criteria is not clear...it will only lead to confusion.

So whoever posts before 7th April will be considered an early bird and the best 20 among them win. That is how I read Renie's reply Smile

Gaurab
from New Delhi

@Narasimha - That's how you interpreted it but it's not clear from Renie's comment. Exact date and time should be mentioned like you wrote 7th April. It should be like 48 or 72 hrs before the end of the event.

Sure it does, but all posts submitted before the last two three days of closure of contest are early birds and best 20 out of those lot of entries get the 1k each.

@Renie

Please inform about the Snapshot for this contest.

No edit-changes allowed after submitting Post now? Normally, Snapshots are taken just after deadline, right?

Since it wasn't clarified at start, I can only suggest indiblogger team to consider first 20 posts for early bird winners, and another 20 as scheduled. What say friends.

I will vote for any idea that gets me a prize Tongue out

Ranjith

there were indi patanni prizes before too in some contests, i think they were chosen in similar manner too

As far as my knowledge goes, indipattani prizes were not announced at start at contest, they were given after the contest as a gesture of appreciation.

Its a good step, Renie, that you will not reward entries based on luck but on merit. Expected nothing less from Indiblogger. I may participate in this one, seems like a topic I can relate to!
Gaurab

There are so many smelly and stinking people around, everybody is able to relate to this Laughing Tongue out

where does luck step in @DS, as per words of indiblogger it clearly stated earlybird prizes and those who stressed at the night at 3 am. to write the post to catch the early bird were duffers. you may expect the sky from indiblogger, no stopping there.

Gaurab
from New Delhi

I think without reading the entries, one shouldn't demean it. Isn't writing impromptu a merit, thinking and comiung up with something in such small time does take merit. It was stated in the contest and I do agree we should reward entries based on merit.

true, gaurab, people react as if baseless entries get the prizes. if they announce earlybird, and we meet that challenge within the time frame, why inculcate a hoard of entries into the net. they should have explicitly mentioned it. My idea is precious for me. I risked it and put it up to get the earlybird atleast. now the tantrums.

plz somebody tell me wats the crux of  early bird entries .. wat wud the criatria ..Innocent

Ranjith
from hyderabad

The 20 vouchers would be given at regular intervals during the contest period.

They are called early bird because someone submitting early will have a greater chance of winning than someone submitting late. For example, if one person submits a post today and another person after fifteen days and 10 early bird prizes are given after ten days from now and remaining ten are given twenty days from now, the first person's chance of winning a voucher will be double that of the second person's chnce of winning.

I hope I didn't confuse you Innocent

In simpler words, try to submit as early as you can - within the next 5 - 10 days. Laughing

@R who told you this is the way the contest will be judged Tongue out

I'm curious and also want to know if you are simply assuming all this Tongue out

Laksmi Single entry - SIngle prize. You'll not get multiple prizes. Money mouth It will simply be considered multiple times. Innocent

Ranjith, i think you are wrong on this one. My three entries can win me three prizes. And one entry can avail earlybird and top prize both as well. Earler we saw an imminent blogger netting two top notch prizes for a single entry. I know many remember him.

Yes, I too got excited by early birds prizes and hurried my post by skipping breakfast et all to furnish my idea. [Not just prize but also a jest to break my record of submitting in last moment]. But soon after submitting  my entry, I saw the rule being changed. Hmmm..

Never mind, I am ok with either way Team Indiblogger wants to do Smile

Somehow I loved this topic and believe, can write tons and tons of pages on "stinky-smelly" people..Yeah I am the kind of who takes showers twice in a day, to get rid of all the smelly memories of the day [people I tell you, are so inconsiderate- they smoke on ur head, burp, belch n God knows what all].

I agree, we must [for a change] display all entries for this contest to accomodate Renie' idea of "early bird" prizes. Good idea Renie!

You should see my character, bathing not thrice, not six but seven times a day.
