Do you allow guest articles in your blog?
I haven't tried asking people to guest post for me on any of my blogs, and I don't intend to do that in foreseeable future.
People come for guest post. But you can ofcourse request specialist in your niche for a guest article.
No this is not a question of guest posting being bad. It's just a mutually agreeable way of promoting oneself. I have done one guest post with a friend from Indi and another two guest posts for two more indi friends, but ones which never made it to the intended blog, and I know they would have happily given me the credits/linkbacks, without even asking. There's absolutely nothing wrong in one doing a guest post. Like, I being myself have an interest in a number of topics and my niche specific blogs sort of restrict me to a particular topic. When I have an idea of doing a guestpost that is out of my specific niche, I can reach out to someone I know who would like a guest post, and one whose blog, I know, would be a much better place for my blogpost rather than it lying un noticed on my own blog. But then, the question lies in whether the owner of the blog really interested in having your work be there on their blog? And this is what I think is the most important point to consider.
Well In internet we live by Google's rule. But if someone has really good story to share, I allow publishing.
Guest posts for links is a bad idea. I tell people that I will give them only a no-follow link and these posters-for-links run far away!
Come on, let's be rational here. It's just one link. When most blog posts consist of multiple links, what's the harm in giving the guest poster a link back to their own blog?
Do remember, the guest poster is also another blogger, who may [for all we know] have a better blog than [y]ours. They're not some convict that links need to be moderated.
It does affect. It violates Google guidelines as link-building is done to manipulate and boost Google PageRank. That site's ranking will eventually sink, and so will yours. Of course, if one doesn't care about getting traffic from search engines (which is significantly higher than what you'd get from all social media combined unless it's something like scoop whoop which cannot survive without social networking- but that's another story), then one can do whatever they want. There have been many articles written by known bloggers about it, many of them explaining it because they were affected by it. Similarly, broken URLs also gets affected which usually happens for many websites that rely on link building. Irrespective of one's intention (though on most counts it's for spammy purposes), the blogs will be deemed to boost spammy content. So simply removing the link afterwards doesn't help you blog either.
At the end of the day, search engine survives when it presents quality content to relevant searches. The fact that they are specifically using the words 'dofollow link' itself should be reason enough to say no. Also, the content is not original. Its just re-worded in a way that typical and basic plagiarism checker may deem it as original. But Google and many other search engine's algorithms are sophisticated and updated to keep up with spammy fellows.
You are the owner of the blog, at the end of the day, YOU are in control. If one Guest Blogger copies content, then it doesn't imply that everyone else does.
As for Google guidelines, unless you are getting more than 100k hits a month, this is not going to even touch your current rankings.
Typical dofollow link spammy bloggers re-write content. Genuine ones may not do so, but surely dofollow linkers re-word content. That 100k is not hard-written rule. It can affect anyone and Google can update algorithms whenever they want. It's not worth the headache. If a blogger is that bad at creating content then he/she doesn't have any motivation of direction.
Guest posts are win win situation as it gives blog host a new varity which is of worth and to guest it gives quality backlink which is a reward for hard work. Mine blog is very new so it doesn't have any DA as of now so nobody wants to put any post into it but I'll start accepting guest post once people would like to post on my blog. :)

No. They usually inject links. That's the only reason anyone does guest blogging. Maybe in very well-known sites some do it with that genuine reason, others just need backlinks.
Many people, including me do Guest Posts solely to get that one backlink. There is nothing wrong with that. Besides, as the blog owner you have full authority to edit out links. It's a blog post, not a forum post, where anyone can randomly post rubbish. This is precisely why I proofread and copyedit guest posts.
Yes. The frequency depends on the guest.
Quality, is crucial, all articles are proofread and copyedited.
Why, simple: It adds more value to the blog. It adds another perspective to the blog.
