Lenovo Contest: Yoga Tablet
finally i am getting a chance to start a thread before Ranjit does.. click here for more details.
http://www.indiblogger.in/topic.php?topic=93
Reason: changed the category.
Submitted my cutie pie entry... Could have done better if it had been extended Anyways...no probs! Enjoyed every bit of it
Hehe Cute na?! Winning entry or not... all I know is I had super fun writing it!
And I guess, entries are still being accepted :D
180 entries in total 1/18th probability of winning something
Yes.... A last min effort
i had thought it'd be 300+ entries
180 is too less for a techie contest... Guess the results will come out soon
May be many people thought that it would be extended...
All those who asked for an extension on this thread managed to submit an entry except me
Ranjith.. You had finish almost and what happend now..?
You could've learn from me..
Ranjith.. You had finish almost and what happend now..?
You could've learn from me..
haha.. lets wish lenovo have a branch for medicines..
Done and dusted!
bursted!
173 is quite a number...
even 1 too a number..
I thought it won't cross a 100 :}
I think it's pretty low, platinum had lesser prizes and almost double entries. So much louuve
The prizes were better I guess (for the Platinum one)
In a previous contest one of our community mentioned plagiarism - once entries were revealed, ideas were copied from another entry and a blog post re-edited. I hope IndiBlogger has sharpened its claws against such tactics & taken due precaution. Do they take screen shots of entries as soon as submitted? I suppose particpants may correct basic typo errors & spelling/grammar errors, but to put in content taken from another entry would then be known if screen shots are taken right away.
I would like to reiterate that the best thing to do is to reveal all entries only AFTER winners are announced.
What is this Plagiarism By the way..?
I read some of the posts and found out that almost everyone has stated the same thing (in different formats)
Also, there were a couple of empty posts with good number of votes
yaye me too! \ :D /
LOL who are they? Empty posts eh? :P
P.S. This happens with every contest since the submission links are open post midnight.
There were a couple of them actually :|
lol!
not expecting more votes
Awesome.. Mission Accomplished.. Posted last minute.. On time before the entry was closed. Enjoyed writing the post for Lenova and got to showcase my little talent
Empty Posts... does that really go unnoticed?
They just submit the link to IV and turn the blog post to draft mode, This gives them time to write their stuff.
but they don't count on the fact that IB guys compare the winning entries with the snap shots taken at sharp 00:00.
Really? I wasn't aware about that! :D
So I submitted around 12.10, my entry won't be considered? Because at sharp 00.00 I had no entry
Thanks Ranjith and Rio!
Congrats PM ji :D
FP don't cry.. they take screenshot at the time they close the submit button :)
Thanks Kitchen Mummy!
Missed blogging for this contest. I think I last participated in September. I need to step up and start participating again. It is so much fun!
yea it is...
ALL THE BEST to all the participants...I saw some really deserving entries and I am sure they will win something...I didn't participate in this...
Ranjith, I think hiding the entries doesn't help greatly and can be do away with it. As "we can hide our entries from indibloggers only" but once posted in the web, it is visible to anyone who knows/stumbles upon our blog. Plagiarist are smart people who copies content which they can anytime do by visiting our blogs otherwise. Why I am saying is that I have seen coule of people visiting/reading only my contest entries and not otherwise. I may not actually misinterpret them as well cause people want to see other's take if not for copying but for sheer curiosity and avoiding duplicating conflicts.
Ideally we should play to self conscience and aim to win only by oiur merit of "writing"/ blogging. BTW, u didn't write for this contest?
Hiding entries won't completely eliminate copying but it will at least make the work of the plagiarist harder.
Even I'm not sure why Renie is hiding contest entries till the last date. I feel that it is actually causing harm because people don't submit till the last minute to get more visibility for their posts and because of that Renie won't be able to estimate the number of entries and sometimes, the contests end up receiving less entries.
BTW, u didn't write for this contest?
I was too lazy and postponed writing till the last day. And on the last day, I had a headache.
Either way my loss...as I normally relent till last hour to post, sometime I run short of time n sometime I make blunders in jiffy :(
sob sob..why do people copy? Can they not be sweet and original n stretch their thinking bones n muscles? :(
Whenz the result??
only Renie and GOD knows
2-3 months
2+3 = March 2014
Hi Guys
How do I check if my entry is being displayed for the contest or not? I was 2 minutes late in putting up the post. Please help.
Trisha
it is displayed @Trisha...you'll find it listed under 'gadgets' & 'better way' when you check from your profile,
If you were able to submit it, then it means that you have successfully submitted it.
- Go to your profile. http://www.indiblogger.in/blogger/25462/
- Click your IndiVine post link. http://www.indiblogger.in/indipost.php?post=308221
- You will see
Posted under Gadgets, Better Way
under the title which means that your entry was submitted successfully. ( Better Way is the name of the contest )
Should I give "betterway" in my post..?
if someone clicks through to the post from Indiblogger (Indivine), only that should count as views na?
Sounds good but still views are not the same as votes
People visit blogs by clicking the links either from
- Home Page - Popular posts will become more popular
- IndiVine Popular tab - Same as above
- IndiVine recent tab - Fair deal for everyone. So, we can remove this from consideration.
- Network posts - Depends on how many people are in your network
- Seeing who have voted and reading their posts and voting if they are good - Depends on how often you read and vote for other people's post.
So how many votes you get in a way depends on how active you are on IndiVine. And I think it's a fair deal. You spend time. You get the benefits.
So, considering votes rather than views seems to be fair enough.
Not sure why I wrote the above thing and I doubt if it is related to the discussion.
Not sure why you posted the reply even after wrtiting the last line
Whether its relevent or not, its helpful (atleast for me )
This indivote discussion keeps on coming back( not a bad thing, but a sign of a vibrant healthy community ). I think the system is good though not perfect, but the cost of perfection may not be worth it as @Ranjith mentions.
I have seen it evolve over the years. Some months back this was discussed and after that Renie implemented limited number of votes + sharing buttons like twitter etc.
I don't think it is a reciprocal MA System by design, as I regulary vote for lot of people and never get vote back and same happens with me, my posts are regularly voted by people whom I don't even know. . It is a human nature to click on posts from folks I know or interact here or on other social platforms, buy hey is that not the purpose of the community to interact? And if I know somebody say Mr. X or Miss Y so what is wrong if I read their post and vote for it if I like it and vice versa. There are times when I do not have a recent post on Indivine but I still check it, and I am sure a lot of you also do the same.
I strongly believe that if I really like a post after reading I will not only vote but I will also share it and I do it whenever I think I want to share a post. That is what actually matters the most from a readership point of view, because not only your fellow blogger read it he/she is also sharing it with his own followers and increasing your readerbase and that in my view is the beauty and utility of Indivine.
Phew! from where did I got all that??
