Launch of IndiSpire
Thank you all for participating in our earlier thread where we asked for random topics; now you can see why!
Check out IndiSpire, and let us know what you think!
Why the Idea I propose on Indispire gets fewer votes?
Are the numbe of votes visible to the original poster?
we all can see it, dont we?
No, we can't. We can see only upto five votes. We can not see the exact number of votes, even for our idea.
Thanks Saket. I didn't submit any idea. So, I wanted to know if the original poster of an idea can see the votes received for his idea.
But you can keep track of the number of votes received by each idea by noting down the voters list once every few minutes.
You can also write a program to automate the task.
very awkward Rajith didnot post any idea, but only votes for them.
Looks like there is some bug. Entries under 'Waking up from the dead........' get posted only under 'Weird' and not under 'Waking up from the dead..........'
@Renie, could you pl see?
Thanks Rio. I raised a ticket. Should I mail too?
Hey Saket - yes there was a bug, and it's been fixed!
Thanks Renie, that was fast! Indifast!
However, just an update... the 'View Posts' button doesn't take to the page displaying posts. You may like to fix that too.
This button too is fixed now.
looks you are the first to be back from dead, and alone, lets see who gonna join you next
only 1 post..no body wanna come back from dead
ok..another joined in...so 2
ND, some think its better over there than here. Less pollution
better where??
i think report tab in topics may be one option. explicit words of Adult nature, is it allowed or ..., this should be also clear.
I donot think it is of any use, just ignore rubbish ideas.
Looks like renie has listened to you. Only 10 ideas displayed now for the 3rd edition
You checked it at the time when exactly ten ideas were submitted.
hehehe, true, I submitted another idea just to check if it came up or not.
Opps..its a coincidence...what a great one
hmmmm maybe...i was completely lost after the first few in the 2nd edition...as the list kept growng my head started spinning
yeah
what about my choice topic bro.
Forum Heros' choice. That would increase forum activity as well.
What is it? I didn't get it Kindly somebody please explain it to me
Every week an idea will be selected out of all the proposed ideas by IB'ers. You have to blog about it and submit it within a week
Ok. So it's like a prompt that's selected by IBers?
This is a great initiative Renie, kudos to the inditeam for this!!
If anyone missed this from the IndiSpire page, ''Check the IndiBlogger homepage everyday for the latest IndiSpired posts!''
I guess there are changes coming up on the Indi Home Page as well!!
I can't notice anything unsual on the homepage, even thought the Indispired posts have already started coming.?
There should be some incentives for the top 3 bloggers (ranked by indivine votes). The best incentive could be of course, as ND suggested above, that the post be published in a newspaper. And I would suggest, the next 2 best posts be put up on indiblogger site itself with prominence (in some parts of landing page of the site). That would be promising enough I guess.
I think the only caveat here is selecting the best posts, which is a headache the IB team would not want to have
@RioDe: Yeah true, I too don't like indivine votes. But then choosing the best posts will become quite a difficult task for indiblogger team.
Why am I feeling that only the recent 50 ideas are being displayed?
@ Renie
It currently shows 56 ideas
NSV I think it has been fixed because when I posted the above reply, the topic 'Describe 5 things you miss about the 80s! #GoodOldDays' was not there and I remember voting for it.
nice initiative. trying to make the deadline for first entry.
is it that no topic got more than 5 votes or .....,
where do we see all vote count. there ought to be a tab of no. of votes
this means which topic is winning remains a suspense till announced. wow
Yes
May be this is done to prevent people from getting influenced by the vote count!
Also to prevent ppl asking others to vote for their ideas to defeat a higher voted idea
You can ask for votes on this thread ( either directly or indirectly ) ( till the time someone comes and says 'Not allowed' )
Those who liked my idea 'XYZ' do vote for it.
'XYZ' idea is cool.
Submitted the idea 'XYZ'
voted for xyz,
now what people gonna write for xyz
Only 3 of the 9 posts that were submitted are valid. The others are about mutual funds, some cloud apps and a two line post.
¿
god knows, I hope mine is a valid one
Good one! Especially the creativity of the topic, in(di)spire. I guess there are no attractive giveaways like other contests. And I have an idea for that though I don't know how practically feasible that would be.
Since most of the topics carry a good cause behind them, if the best write-up could be published in a magazine or some daily/weekly, it will be a good boost for bloggers. At the same time, a good message will be sent across to the country through the article. Pbably IB would need to either bring up a monthly magazine or buy it's own column in a leading daily for that. It has all the chances to take several time-pass bloggers a step ahead to real writers.

thats a great idea

I think TOI will be glad to offer space for free
nice idea there.
+1
I mentioned about incentive in my last commment, I think publishing your post in a leading daily will be a good incentive. :)
That's great idea ND!
Great idea, but don't you think that the 1.5 days time given to participate for each topic is too less?
I think 1.5 days time is only for the first edition.
For the second editionn, the topic will be selected today at 10:00 pm and you can submit your entry for it till next Thursday 10:00 pm.
So, it is one week time.
This is what I understood. I might be wrong
very good initiative renie it take IB to a more interesting level... i think more ideas, more readers and more networking.. really nice one :)
So many topics to write
I liked the initiative and there are some really good ideas posted there but what will be the incentive for making people blog on the selected topic because different people are voting for different topics so, what if they choose to blog on their favorite topic rather than the one with highest votes.
(PS- The question is asked to improve the significance of the initiative please refrain from giving silly replies like people can blog on any or all topics they like)
As per my understanding, one topic that gets highest votes will be the topic of the week for everyone to write on. Then they will make public the name of blogger whose topic got selected. now self promotion by the initiator of topic too is not allowed as it will risk the start up of vote beggings.
what will be the incentive for making people blog on the selected topic
At least for a few months, people will be interested in checking out the posts on IndiSpire. So, on an avergae posting on IndiSpire gives higher visibility than posting on IndiVine.
what if they choose to blog on their favorite topic rather than the one with highest votes
If you submit that post to IndiSpire, then it will be rejected because you are supposed to write on the selected topic only.
