White lilies contrasting with the green leaves and emerald waters float gracefully as your boat gently glides into the water. A temple right in the middle of the lake beckons you with a timelessness that belongs in the realm of dreams. This is the Kere Basadi, one of the three temples that are part of the Varanga Jain Temples. The temples bear silent testimony to the rise of Jainism in Karnataka and its influence on the arts, architecture and culture of the region.
