i am glad to finally see an Indian comic strip. I have always wondered why Indian comic strip don't exist, or at least why they don't become popular. I can remember so many 'phoren' comic strip from childhood - Here's some of them

Casper, Spooky, Henry, Dennis the Menace, Archie, Lotta, Richie Rich, Hagar the Horrible, Charlie Brown, Wizard of Oz, Beetle Bailey, Garfield, Tintin, Asterix....

And the not so comic ones

Phantom, Madrake the Magician, All the superhoeroes - Superman, Batman, This-man, That-man.....

Compared to this - the only Indian comic strips that remain the memory are Chacha Chaudhary and Bahadur.

Curerntly, the Pune daily 'Sakaal' had featured (for almost 8-10 years now!) a marathi cartoon strip called Chintoo. By Prabhakar Wadekar and Charuhas Pandit.

Am happy to see your efforts - my best wishes to you. I hope your comic strip becomes popular in the days to come!

Regards,

Pushkaraj

Well thats a nice summary of the entire story. You're right; very few Indian comic strips have actually made it big.

Thanks for the extensive review!

Hi Aniruddh, Well, although I'm not a big follower of comic books, one of our resident comic book freak at strat.in loved your intermeshing of a comic strip and your own thoughts, turning them into mood pieces (his words, not mine). His advice was to not go for colour, but to try and insert a bit of social satire and deviate from personal musings once in a while. Will be following your blog with interest :)
