The kind of book you instantly fall in love with, TOKE, falls into a unique genre of geek humor. Right from the design of the cover in a weird Technicolor print that reminds you of the graphics of the 80′s to the words on the first page of the book, this one keeps you entertained and interested throughout the 200 odd pages.

Dreams have this strange tendency. When we wake up, it makes us wonder if it was a mere dream because everything so real; as if happening to us... right in front of us! And Jugal Moody’s Toke has a dreamlike effect. Once you turn the last page and read the last line, you will be lost in thoughts and be wondering if you read something or was that a dream!

Toke is an adventure trip of Nikhil and his friends to save the world from the maggots. Now, this is an offbeat and an unusual story which has a lot of humour and witty one-liners that make you smile.

Imagine the weirdest conversation you've had with your friends. Now imagine the funniest conversation you've had with them. Mix them up. Multiply it by 100.Divide it by zero. That’s how weirdly funny this book is!

I wouldn’t say it’s a must read, deserves 3, 3.5 or 5 out of 5 stars (I am no good at that quantitative thing); but I can for sure say that I enjoyed reading the book. It’s of a different genre that I have not much read and I personally fought to read the first few pages but then when I was able to understand what I am reading, I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT! And, THAT MATTERS!

This is Jugal’s first book and it is really appreciable that he has dared to write this book in a style that is something unique and innovative though the final product produced and delivered is not at all what you would like to look at or try to read. It will be really daring at your end if you do it.

Imagine an unsure, confused office going guy who has fallen in love with his colleague; she like most of the Indian stories, initially has no idea who he is. Now suddenly, introduce a plethora of gods, a couple of Japanese kung-fu masters, ganja, hash and scenes from Go, Goa.. Gone.

Unwinding with the "cool dude", Lord Vishnu and saving the world!

The very first page of this book gets you wondering whether the author was high when he penned down this book. The author apparently writes to feel like dog sticking its head out of a car. If you are accustomed to Sir Isaac Asimov, or love J. K. Rowling's style of narration, you should stay away from this book.

Book Review : Toke by Jugal Mody

Toke , the fiction by Jugal Mody is highly techie because he used to say computer jargons. Its quiet interesting to read this book. BoVine island remembered me of the V-mark , the brahmin used to put on his forehead.

Overall, this is a fun read, and I feel it is one-time read. A confident debut offering.

It’s kind of “read and move on” book. Nothing to take from it, nothing to get hurt about, it gives complete entertainment. I felt it was novel idea of bring in the god, the concept where an individual takes it up on him to save the world from becoming zombies.
