Colgate 'The Moral of the Story is...' contest

The IndiBlogger forum is now a read-only archive. Every public discussion is still here to read, but new topics and replies are closed.

Two out of every three Indians suffer from gum problems and are unaware of it. Blood can be the sign of bigger gum problems like gingivitis, receding gums or even tooth loss if left untreated. One should not ignore the warning signs your body gives you!

So blog away, write a moral story about ignoring warning signs and win great prizes :

  • 1 Sony XPeria Z
  • 16X Rs 5000 Nike vouchers
  • Colgate hamper for all participants with a valid entry

For more details, visit the contest page.

Write a moral story about ignoring warning signs...

... the warning signs your body gives you ...

Should the warning signs be related to teeth? Undecided

RioZee
from Out of this yEt in this World |

Yo dude, gums,

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

If topics was 'a moral story about ignoring *any*  warning sign', I would have written a *good* panchatantra like story. Smile

.

.

Now, I will have to force teeth and gums into that story. Frown

Anunoy Samanta
from Bardhaman |

I think it's 'no' dude....

It's written "write a moral story about ignoring warning signs and win your way to great health!" --- so it can be any warning sign shown by your body, not just teeth and gum Smile

Though it'll be nice if Renie clarifies....

kanupriya Gupta
from Mumbai |

Ranjith you are active participent of contests. I just want to know can i write in hindi?

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

@AS Now, who will tag Renie? Tongue out

@ kanupriya I think that you can write in any language ( though I'm not very sure about it  ) as nothing about it is specified in the Terms and Conditions but don't expect to win a prize! Surprised I can't recall any Hindi language post winning a prize. ( The reason could also be that the number of Hindi entries are very few, so the probability that the winning entry is a Hindi post is also lower ) So, it's always better to write in English.

I remember Renie clarifying in one of the contest threads that entries in any language are allowed ( for that particular contest ). Now, it's upto you to interpret the rules and come to a conclusion regarding the language.

Anunoy Samanta
from Bardhaman |

tagging Renie won't help... he'll come when there's real need... BTW do you keep interest in mythology and all...? Wink

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

mythology ... Why did you ask that question ? Innocent

Anunoy Samanta

Ranjith kindly advise where I have to name the title page as The Moral of the story is.... or any other title will do?

Thanks in advance

Anunoy Samanta

Someone please clarify, in the clause 4 of rules/guidelines it's given that:

"An entry shall be considered eligible only if it includes all the details of the person visiting the said link and following all instructions specified therein. He/she shall hereinafter be referred to as “the Participant”."

what does it mean??? Undecided

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

So, we have people other than me who read the rules... Tongue out

They might have copy pasted the above sentence from a 'Master File'. This is what happened in one of the contests. ( Melbourne ? )

Nandini Deka
from Bombay |

its sounds alien language to me

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

Is the following also copied from the 'Master Document'? Innocent

Participants agree to authorize Colgate to send voice messages and SMS alerts/email messages including promotional messages to their telephone number or email id, which they have provided while participating in this contest.

Ranjith

Voice messages - may be multimedia messages, IVRS calls or phone calls Innocent

Ranjith

yes offcourse Ranjith ! you are our forum hero after all !Tongue out

Vineet Rajan
from Mumbai |

Ok, a lot of doubts here. Here goes!

1. The moral story does not necessarily have to be about gums and teeth. Any moral story! But the story needs to be original, so no Panchatantra fables! :)

2. Blog posts in any language are valid!

3. The title of the posts does not have to be "The Moral of the story is...."

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

Panchatantra stories = original stories containing animals, birds and talking trees! Wink

Anunoy Samanta
from Bardhaman |

"Blog posts in any language are valid" Surprised

this clause brought me to the (mis)conclusion that stories and articles aren't read before contest results Tongue out

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

Surprised

When I had raised the same doubt in one of the previous contest threads, Renie/Vineet said that they  have translators who know many languages.

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

Seeing your smile, I feel that you are ready to learn Japanese and submit your entry in Japanese. Tongue out May be, Arti can help you! Wink

vaisakhi mishra
from thane |

if we can write ANY moral story how do we include the health blog link and wat about this rule : write a moral story about ignoring warning signs and win your way to great health!... Surprised

Mamata Patil
from Gurgaon |

"Blog posts in any language are valid!", only for this contest or for other too?

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

@ vaisakhi mishra You can write any moral story about ignoring warning signs. Since Renie and Vineet ( they are a part of the team that runs IndiBlogger ) themselves have said that, you can ignore the statement or consider that this is the new interpretation of that statement.

Regarding the link, there is no need to insert it within the body. At the end of the blog post, you can add the sentence :

This is an entry for XYZ contest organised by IndiBlogger and sponsored by Colgate. Visit their health blog here.

@ Mamata I think, for all contests

DS

One more doubt regarding - 16X Rs 5000 Nike vouchers... Does this mean that 16 bloggers will receive vouchers worth 5000 each or is that amount cumulative?

Madhu Bhardwaj
from NOIDA |

What do you think? Of course 16 individual entries will get 5000 each.

DS
from Mumbai |

Its always better to clear doubts beforehand rather then cry over spilt milk!!

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

The first think I have done after reading this query is calculating 5000/16 to see if it turns out to be a recurring decimal. Undecided

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

think  --> thing

Vineet Rajan
from Mumbai |

Each winner gets a voucher worth 5000 bucks! And there are 16 such winners so 5000 * 16! Same blogger can win all the 16 vouchers too since multiple entries are allowed. So one blogger could walk away with one Sony Phone, 16 vouchers and quite a few Colgate Hampers to distribute! ;)

DS
from Mumbai |

Haha! Thanks for the reply Vineet!!

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

@ Vineet Will that ever happen - a single person winning all the prizes ? Tongue out

and quite a few Colgate Hampers

Is it one hamper per entry or per participant?

Avadhoot
from Jabalpur |

@Ranjith:"all participants with valid entries get a Colgate hamper" says it all : each participant shall get one hamper despite the number of entries he makes-  at least one entry should be valid.Smile

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

So, Vineet was confused ? Innocent

Hi Guys,

When do u have to submit?

Any guesses! How long can a story be. It has to be something.

DS
from Mumbai |

You can submit at any time by going to the contest page until the contest is on. There is no limit on the number of words.

Arindom Borah
from Kolkata |

What do I have to edit??? this 'edit' shit comes up on my screen

DS

The edit feature is only there to help you in case you have made a mistake and want to correct your reply. Otherwise just ignore the edit button.

Arindom Borah

Isn't there anybody who knows?

Sunandan

Can I post a one page comic about this?

Avadhoot
from Jabalpur |

yes, contest page says-

your story could be real, fictional, funny or serious.

Narendra Kumar
from Bangalore |

Hi,

Can you please clarify about this:

"An entry shall be considered eligible only if it includes all the details of the person visiting the said link and following all instructions specified therein. He/she shall hereinafter be referred to as “the Participant”."

So, do we need to write our name, address, etc in the blog post itself?

What are the details that we need to provide?

Please clarify.

Regards,

Narendra

Renie Ravin
from Chennai |

Hey Narendra, you don't have to worry about that for now - simply submit your post as in any other IndiVine contest. When you have the time, update your IndiBlogger profile. Please don't put your address in your blog post!
