What does cloud have to do with not rewriting code. Even without cloud, when I need to do something on excel, I look it up on google and tweak it. How will cloud make this easier - Ranjith or someone else can throw some light?

Nandini Deka
from Bombay |

cloud will help by raining outside while you work on the code and cannot go out, thus concentrate fullyInnocent

Gaurab
from New Delhi |

@Nandini - Clouds may make you feel gloomy and you may not feel like working Innocent

Nandini Deka
from Bombay |

thunder will wake u upSmile thunder when clouds crashes into one another

Gaurab

Rains will make me feel poetic and again I won't feel like coding Smile

Nandini Deka
from Bombay |

for coders ...coding is their poetryCool

Vijay Prabhu
from Mumbai |

Actually a nice concept TF clouds rain Cool

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

TF You were a software engineer, right? Innocent

I think what they meant is that if you write a centralised application and later want to make it distributed because of the huge increase in the number of users, then you need to rewrite code. If you start by writing distributed kind of code, no need to write. Innocent But it doesn't make much sense. Tongue out Or may be I am wrong. Undecided

Ranjith
from hyderabad |

And ND will drink thums up listening to the thunder and singing 'Thums Up Taste the Thunder' Tongue out

Gaurab
from New Delhi |

@Nandini - coding is their poetry Tongue out

Fairy Princess
from Delhi |

@TF, AFAIK, this is more related to sharding and cloud computing. Usually what happens, when the applications are created, they have the capacity to accomodate 200% of their target users. If this application becomes popular and sees a growth of 500%, like Angry Birds game application, the application needs to be tweaked to accomodate more-than-expected users. In this scenarios, company can either rewrite the whole program and shard it, which is quite complex according to what I know and it has greater chances of errors if not done properly, or they can host the application on VPS (cloud), which are highly scalabe and flexible. So I think this contest is focusing on the latter aspect.

I might be wrong but this is what I've understood when I was writing about cloud computing. Cool

Nandini Deka
from Bombay |
