It's finally here - thanks to everyone's ideas, inputs and suggestions here, we're super happy to bring you the new IndiVine! Freak out and fill up the categories with your blog posts - and vote away! Smile

As always, you guys will be instrumental in IndiVine's development, and the next few days are crucial while the system stabilizes. Do send in any bugs or feedback you have so we can track everything on this topic.

A special thanks to Vipul Grover and the gang who pushed us to do this. Personally, I think it's something IndiBlogger badly needed - a fact I never would have realized if not for the forum!

Man i dont know how i land up on Indiblogger at just the rite time.. i hop ppl dont strt thinking um so crazy tht keeping sitting here all the time..

Of the 67 posts on my blog, now 43 are on the IndiVineCool

But there are some important sub categories missing - like

  • Books under Lifestyle,
  • Other Issues under Nation and Politics,
  • International Relations under Nation and Politics

Overall, the new IndiVine is really cool.. just loved it Smile

I have one doubt renie....

If i promote a post... The post gets two points..... But still some post have 7 and 5 points.. how is that possible? http://ballat.blogspot.com

From the FAQ's:

I voted once, but the count increased by 2 points. Is that a bug? No, that's a feature of IndiVine. The IndiVine voting system is integrated with IndiRank, where a vote for a higher ranking blog gets more weightage. Let's take for example the blog gujiligalaba.blogspot.com having an IndiRank of 55. Every vote for posts from this blog will have a value of (1 + .55 = 1.55). Votes are rounded off for display. All fresh entries on IndiVine start at 0 votes, regardless of the IndiRank.

So if higher ranking blogs get more weightage..what about lower ranking ones... even thought they have good contents due to less weightage they might get unnoticed right?? 

correct me if I am wrong... just curious to know more about that point system...

Thanks everyone, it's awesome knowing that IndiVine is starting to look like a genuine success. I guess this is the next big thing after the forum and IndiRank! Smile

We just added facebook and twitter buttons so it's easier to share the articles you post or read.

Hey Renie.. isn't the rounding off system just too wide.. By just being a rank here and there(IndiRank 49, say), u loose a cmplete vote!

Hey dude, the rounding off is done only for display on the screen... the system does not round off anything and all values are maintained as is, and it is the precise values which are used to set the order of posts on IndiVine...

hi mods,

I have been trying almost a day long to submit my post in the indivine and always i get an error while posting.

Is it a problem which i am facing alone or is it a common problem. If its a common problem. please report here.

The mods can take action about this.

Infact its not getting posted at all! I mean the processing is taking so much time, with no result!

Just added one of my post. I feel that the navigation is bit of a disadvantage for the blogs starting late. It would be nice to have 'next' button in 'Latest' category

Shilpa..I use google chrome only.... and It uploads within fractions for me....may be i think still some bugs have to fixed..

Toughest part of this contest is to get your head above the water, of you have entered late. Its loaded in favour those who are ahead, because only those posts get read and voted further up.

Ideallly there should be a facility for either 'randomized blog' suggestion, or a scroll of blog titles - so that visibility of blogs with low scores is increased.

Abhishek nd Sanjay hav raised vry importnt issue.. Evn i wud hav raisd it ystrday bt didnt want 2 bothr u 4 sum time :)

Actually, the vry frst issue we hd raised in that discussion is actually taking place now, so um bit wrried. Um sure u mst have thought bout it nd will implemnt it latr.

Anyway, RANDOM tab is a mst in addition to Latest and Popular on the top. Moreover Random should be set as default rather thn popular.

Though named random, it's algorithm should give more weightage to old posts and lesser ranked posts.

And yeah, why not the Next-Previous option on Indivine Home page like the categories page.

Actually prblm is not only 4 new cumers bt also prsn like me who was frst 2 add his posts. At tht time evryone was busy adding, so didnt vote 4 most of my votes.. Now i find all my posts (with a couple of xcptions) stacked in d end doomed to be there till etenity ;)

Moreover, the one post CHAMPION which is still among Popular posts on main page is not even a fraction close to my other better posts which r languishing in d bottom. So frm tht perspective too thrs a  pblm.

nd renie i actully believe u mst disable 'promotion' option 4 sum time till Random option gts implemntd. Morevr evn wn random is introducd if nd wn, popular option should b removd nd introducd back aftr some time.
