These ranks are given on the basis of information collected by their respective "Tool Bars" installed in the browsers of surfers and are not fully reliable. If your readers have this toolbar installed then your rank will go high. Also by listing your blog in various Social Net working sites you can increase your rank. Happy hunting! Install "Alexa Tool Bar" and make your blog's url as the Home Page in your browser. This helps!

But the toolbar is only for IE and Firefox, right?

What should people using Chrome/Safari/Opera do?

no sir it doesn't work because of the toolbar......... even if you or your readers doesn't have the toolbar......it will work the same way as it does with it..........

Alexa rank is your page's rank in the world.....according to the hits/page views/visitors you have in last 3 months............though alexa doesn't matter to bloggers who doesn't blog for money...... so it's not a big deal

PS:- alexa also counter increases if you visit your blog for 100 times a day.....  :)

    To me also alexa says that I am online since 2000 but I started blogging from midof july.

    It is probably showing the date since which blogspot.com was online, and not your blog.

    well, you got it correct....Anik..........because you ppl are blogging under the domain of blogspot....... it would show you the correct date....if you'll have your own domain

    @Pratibha...wel my Alexa Traffic rank says 1,337,026 and in India it is 73,793.....kinda demoralising , isnt it Frown

    Alexa measures only traffic amongst Alexa toolbar users for my site it only shows 2.5 to 3 .5% search traffic,whereas google stats shows more than95% organic or search traffic.

    Alexa ranking is flawed and not a true indicator of the traffic you get.The common web surfer does not even know what the Alexa toolbar is,It is only the site owners who install this toolbar,thus Alexa ranking depends upon how many site owners visit your site and not the total visiters.

    No you can also send info about every user to Alexa by just putting their widget on your blog.

    seems my alexa rank has improved to 11,092,121

    still can't get to alexa but this is thro' the websitegrader.com- seems it has improved in last few days

    and its sister site blog.grader.com states this

    You ranked 96,264 out of the approximately 456,113 other blogs that we've graded.

    I dont know how to find out my India rank.

    My alexa rank was 4.84 m today morning for this site:

    http://vhdlguru.blogspot.com

    And it suddenly rised to 4.34 m by afternoon. Dont know what is the reason.

    And the sad thing is I dont have a google page rank yet. My posts gets indexed regularly by google and I get a 50 % traffic from google search engine.

    1,583,828 alexa and 60,579 india rank.. this was 4.3 million about 3 weeks before.

    then i installed alexa toolbar and I suddenly felt the difference.

    Have to get it under 1m somehow...:)
