Indibloggers Meet + Community Outreach
An idea struck me of a way to give back to the community through blogging. As we know, we usually have blogger's meet, but how about blogger's meet + community outreach?
For example, bloggers from Bangalore form a group which can do a quarterly outreach to some chosen orphanages. I know that the question about cost will arise, so I suggest that as a fundraiser, we can look for local businesses who can be willing to donate (money or goods), then in return, bloggers will dedicate a blogpost about these businesses, so they'll have an online presence.
When there is enough funds, members can suggest what kind of community outreach and to whom, then it will be voted, as well as the date and place of meet/outreach.
I hope that others will find this idea doable.
We recently had a blogger competetion called IBL. We formed a team for the purpose. We are soon planning to extend it to include all genuine bloggers from Bangalore and have meets every month. One of the senior members was suggesting these kind of activities for the group. Will keep you updated.
hi TF, yeah, i've been following the page in facebook but I didn't like the blogging competition so I didn't join, i also saw that it didn't turn out well with some members bashing others.
i hope the team will be able to do this kind of activity, i'll definitely join.

We are cleaning up all IBL related stuff from the community before inviting new folks. Maybe sometime next week.

@Kajal - The leader was Leo not me. The social activities will be lead by Mr. Sibi who also participated in IBL with us. He was the one who wanted to take it that direction. I don't have much experience in these kind of things. I am just a blogger. But would help in whatever way I can.

yep, would love to have all the bloggers use our blogs to help unfortunate ones, but we need someone to spearhead and many will follow.
