Friends this is Shwetabh from Delhi. Here I look forward for help from Indi of a very grand scale. The people of delhi must have heard/ read about Mr. Sahay, the old man who sells puppets at CP, A Block. There are various blogs / facebook pages about him and various people pledge to help him.

Read his story here : http://www.thedelhiwalla.com/2011/08/25/mission-delhi-%E2%80%93-pm-sahay-connaught-place/

This feb I met him and the pic I took of him generated huge response (100+ likes, 100+ shares and close to 60 comments).

Buoyed by the response, Me and Dipali sharma ( another Indi member) went this 6th April to know the full story from the man himself and how we could help him. These are the current facts about him irrespective of whats written earlier -

Mr. Sahay has now shifted to Bahadurgarh. The bank in which he used to work was an American bank which is no longer in operation. Against the pension amount, he already had taken money to construct his house, marry off his daughter (who resides in Delhi). He doesnt have any details about his son`s passport number or certificate ( passport was not made by the time of his knowledge and documents were with his son as he was applying to various jobs).

There is NO confirmed news of his son`s death(as some blog accounts read). He doesnt believe in his son`s death and neither does his wife. He thought that maybe his son & daughter in law came to delhi to look for office space. Told earlier also, he supports his wife and married daughter with her kids ( her husband become unemployed and left her).

He is found in CP, A block. On the odd days when business is not good, the max. he can go is B block. The delhi metro helps him by giving him the services of the wheelchair. Now he doesn`t go to Old delhi railway station to collect the puppets. The man helps him by giving the puppets him there at CP. The man keeps only a very small amount with himself of the sale and gives the rest to Mr. Sahay.

Mr. Sahay now doesnt want to be a burden on him ( he greatly acknowldeges the help). When we asked him what he wants to do if people wanted to help him ( also told him the response his pic generated). He says that puppet selling is not viable due to his health & also because of his helper. All he wants is some office space in DELHI where he can get some agency/ dealership of some kind. That would be a much better option than the present. Me and Dipali have his number but we wont be sharing it here due to the fact that some elements are making a fun of him and saying a lot of negative things.

Inspite of him being a bit vary of the pics clicked by people and misused, he agreed for a snap when he saw the help which we were trying to do. So now that you know what he wants, please come out with your ideas and lets decide something by which we can turn this help into reality.. We have his son`s name and the tentative year of his passing out, can any CA friends chip in with the limited info we have?

What help we are really looking forward to -

1. Any CA friends who can help in knowing the whereabouts of his son in India/ Bahrain.

2. An office space in Delhi.

3. Any agency/dealer/distributorship of any kind.

The 2nd and 3rd points are charities of huge proportions and so we are looking forward to huge response in this regard. We have seen the dissapointment in his eyesand we truly wish to visit him again only when we have any update / progress in this regard (and soon too).

So who is coming forward in helping? Its time bloggers came forward and helped.

Mr. Rio,

Thank you for your words. I was an amalgamation of various things which prompted us to go and help Mr. Sahay and not let him be limited to the hero on social media who has few pages and various blog accounts where people vow to "buy" all his toys and help him out. We thought why not to eradicate this puppet selling once and for all and thats when we decided to know his full story and see what response we can get in helping him out.

The help needed here is enormous and thats why we turned to Indi to get various ideas, help in this regard. I seemed to have missed out a few points in the rush of emotions i experienced while telling his story and the people here were quick to jump to general opinions and thats when I had to request them yesterday to keep those things out of this thread.

I hope that you`ll understand what I am trying to convey. All we are looking forward is help, nothing more. There are a lot of places where people can happily voice their views, here it won`t help us in any way.

Shwetabh, I like your enthusiasm to help people. Particularly mr. sahay family. May god bless you and your family is all I can say. Since you have said no discussion of merit or demerit of case or laws of land or whatever, i will refrain any comment on those lines. Your enthusiasm is worth the worship.

I would request Fairy princess and Partha to kindly stop their personal fight in this forum thread. We have given all the updates we have as of now. We opened up this thread to help Mr. Sahay and not discuss opinions, for that to do please head to Indivine.

Shwetabh, I don't have any personal agenda to fight with anyone. Undecided When a derogatory statement against female gender is made, I can't help but respond. And if you had taken pains to read the full comment, you would have read the bottom note, which I hope you will do now before creating another foot-in-the-mouth situation.

Best of luck for your campaign. Smile

An update coming from another blogger in terms of help which might be coming soon. He has promised to help in searching for Mr. Sahay`s son`s CA membership number. We hope that we would be able to get that piece of information soon.

As for the rest, please keep away opinions from this topic. We are simply trying to help and not thinking about the " what if " scenarios as of this moment or the existing laws which could have been.

This is to inform all that due to overwhelming rush of emotions in sharing Mr. Sahay story with Indi...we seem to have missed out on Mr. Sahay's dayghter in law. As per Mr. Sahay, both his son and daughter in law are untraceable and hence their fate is unknown. All he could  tell us was that, his daughter in law was his son. So just like his son we are not aware about the whereabouts of his son and his daughter in law. Would like to emphasize that the only people in Mr. Sahay family.

1.Mr. Sahay

2. Mrs. Sahay

3 Mr. Sahay's - Married daughter along with her kids.

Not sure why everyone here is commenting that his (probably dead) son should be kicked. INstead no one has raised the point why is his daughter in law is not supporting the family by working and financially contributing. This is misandry. This also shows what our myopic views about women empowerment has created for us. A 74 yr old man is forced to hawk in Delhi for a living, whereas there is no govt. support system for him. If it was a woman ferrying the same, immediately need of women getting husband's property would have come up.

This is why we immediately need a national commission for men and a ministry for men's welfare. So that majority of taxpayers who are men, have a dignified end to their life. and it is not considered that ALWAYS it is the man's responsibility to take care of his family. Sick system, sick mindset. Still we need equality and more favour for women..

Well, when the rant against women is being initiated, please consider those women who sell their bodies to provide financially for their family.

PS: I'm not going to reply further to any explanations, correct or incorrect.

Fairy Princess, you will not reply further because you will not be able to show any case where a DIL sold her body to save her in laws..well definitely yes for her own pleasure..but I can show you plenty of cases where men are forced to give away their own property to greedy wives or DIL. Yes a man is legally forced to do so...and NO woman can ever be forced to maintain her own family..

I do sympathize with mr. Sahay.

Renie we dont know what is the reality here. Over the years all the various blog accounts have mentioned that his son died in Bahrain. This sunday when me and dipali asked him that how did he knew that his son died, he said that there is no confirmed news that his son died. He refuses to believe this and so does his wife. All we have his son`s name and the year of his tentative year of completion of his CA. We are looking for help from some CA friends and of course people at Indi too who can help get the registration number from the institute on the basis of this and then hopefully we can go further to track them.

There are a lot of ends to this story and we need help in all. Unconfirmed accounts say his son died in an accident in Bahrain but that is not sure. A friend of mine is ready to help trace him in Bahrain but for that he needs either the registration number as a CA or the passport number, which unfortunately Mr. Sahay doesnt help and we want to help him with.

If we consider the issue of tracing of his son to be kept aside, we really need huge charity when it comes to arranging an office space and/or an agency for Mr. Sahay. The pics on the net show him really younger while in reality this is him ( the pic is from my blog when i first wrote about him in feb.)

We know we are against huge odds and we are need to start from somewhere. Me and my few friends have started this issue and now we want everyone to come forward and pitch in with help (ideas, references anything would help).

I knew i could fall back on Indi and I hope that maybe it would be an auspicious start if everyone chipped in. Bloggers can help achieve the impossible. Isnt it what #doright says?? Doesnt it?

I feel really sorry to know that out of all the people in the streets who don't even have clothes and food, women who are raped everyday and tortured to death, this story got the limelight. Frown I think he should also get help and people who need far greater help should not be ignored as well.Frown
