A quick update.

I achieved what I was looking for thanks to the great advise by SM (http://www.indiblogger.in/forum/topic.php?id=534)

@Rohini,

the darker colour is a bit better, although I agree that the only colour that will standout is black - but that will not gell with the colour scheme.

BTW, i tried using the horizontal line, but did not like the end result. so it seems i am back to square one for now. Will see what to do

you have used a pretty good array of widgets and customizations good work..

you can also try to increase the size of the post area so that the whole width of the page is utilized...

@ jkwillsay: WRT the title in the header, I have tried to change to a darken color. But only the black color is visible clearly. Black doesn't go well with the color scheme. Alternately the opacity of the image in the header could be reduced but I'm no graphics whizkid. Besides one can't reduce the opacity of a background layer in Photoshop.

@ hashir: Is your template in new blogger? Mine is still on old blogger and it's XHTML transitional. There is simply a class for the separator where you can see the separating lines in blue. In some places I have merely used a horizontal line

It might look like i m interrupting a nice conversational thread, but just to respond to the topic, paint the town red is for celebration by which i mean the layout is splendid. But just as Hashir pointed out the header is getting lost in the background. I m not sure which color might suit the picturesque background, but i suggest a permutation combination method to pan out the best option. I read a couple of your post, attention grabbers. I m a little fond of languages, but didn't do much to feed my fondness and good to know that you are back from your hiatus. Happy blogging!

@Rohini,

that separator is coming only for the widgets, and not for anything I added to the sidebar.

for example, there is no separator between the "Copyleft" and the "Do not forget" sections.

If you want, i can attach a sample code of how i have attached these sections, and how the widgets are attached for your reference

I just visited http://the-kings-doodles.blogspot.com. There *is* a separator in your sidebar. The dotted line in grey. If you meant something else, please explain.

@Rohini,

one suggestion - The title of your blog is getting mixed with the quilt design in the background. try using a different colour

@Rohini,
