In 2011, the Coppersmith Barbet (Psilopogon haemacephalus) was named as the ‘Bird of Mumbai’ by Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS). According to the Hindustan Times, the bird was bestowed this honour on the seventh annual Mumbai Bird Race.
