I blog for the same reason, but I do try to get others' feedbacks on my writing skill using promotional ways :) :) Because ultimately my aim is to improve my writing skill and my thought process :) :)

I think my blog is not triggered to SEO or making money at all...I agree with you when you say that blogs should be about fun (for ourselves and others) and I think too many people lose their way on the road to that. :)
