Police have been undertaking a massive drive to curb drunken driving.  The objective seems apparently to collect stiff penalties rather than curb or reform or refrain people from Drunken driving.  Another issue is that the alcometer takes almost 2 to 5 minutes to return to normalcy according to experts.  Finally the hygiene factor considering one has inhale or exhale the same apparatus used by another individual, what if the previous person is afflicted by AIDs or other infectious disease.

Reforming the malady of drunken driving can be undertaken first of all by engaging doctors to test drunken driving with ambulance around.  The drunken driver should be made to puke what he has drunk, stablised and than sent home accompanied by his family, along with nominal fine.  Second offense the offenders family doctor should be called and asked to give a written assurance, and he or she should be made to puke and sent along with family back home after paying penalty.  Finally a corrective surgery or de-addiction should be carried out to correct the habit.  This may get rid of the menace of drunken driving.

Other alternatives include hiring of screened drivers by the police or they should make bars compulsory to provide drop service.  The idea should be reduce the incident of road accidents due to drunken driving.  An individual owning a high end car would care two hoots for the punitive fines or punishment imposed by cops.  We have seen many hit and run cases in the recent past......what is your take guys.

Skipping signal, driving without seat belts, crossing speed limits etc. can happen out of carelessness. But drunken driving is a deliberate offence. If anyone if caught driving drunk, just seize license and cancel it and don't give license again for another 10 years. Simple.

And I think a light peg or so so does not cause trouble. It is when person is really drunk, the problem comes. Police man can identify who is really drunk just by observation. You don't need that stupid machine. After catching blood test can be done for court evidence.

Ladies have objection to sniffing by cops, this is where the hygiene factor of the alcometer comes into play, meter can show abnormal reading if test is conducted within 3 minutes.  I dread the non sanitised alcometer
