Rape-A taboo to discuss in India?

I was just wondering that Indians sometimes behave so indifferently. On one hand we boast about our CULTURAL heritage, which surely believes in 'respect to women'(and then it happens to be a stressed part in our constitution)Then why do we have the reluctance and hesitance in our blood about discussing such topics?

If you thought this is the case only in India you are partly wrong. A blog friend of mine From USA wrote a poem on the rape of her friend that obviously changed her life and submitted to a journal. It was branded 'cliche'' and 'preposterous' to write on rape

ALL you WOMEN writers and poets PLEASE take up this challenge and write POEMS,ARTICLES,ANALYSIS,STORIES on this issue...I DID IT
