How to prevent unwanted comments and comment spam

Of late, I had received quite a number of unwanted comments and comment spam. Not only the comments are not related to my blog post but also they are trying to promote/sell their products.

 

How to prevent this from ocurring?

Enable comment verification (though it then becomes tedious for others to write a comment and I would not recommend this option). Better option is to enable comment moderation and delete those useless comments manually.

Thanks DS, that was exactly what I did, delete them manually. Looking for better option....

I do get such spams, but delete them manually.
