Contests For New comers!!!
Hello everyone!!
I am new to this Indiblogger community. This community is really great with meets and contests. But When i went to contests page,I expected there would be some contests to newcomers. But I didnt find any. I think the new comers would be encouraged If there is a contest for best newcomer. This is just a suggestion. Its not necessary that the winners should get pro account or something. U can just give a badge to best newcomer,so that they feel proud and encouraged.
Hmm... makes sense... any more ideas on the contest? How old/young should the blog be? Do we have a category?

Lets take it this way... consider this month june.... Take a note of what all blogs registered in june. keep a voting for the best newcomer blog in june... which blog has more number of votes can be awarded as best newcomer blog...
then it goes on month by month...

New comers don't remain new comers for long. Blogging is not rocket science. One can learn the ropes pretty quickly.
So having features specifically targetted at new comers makes little sense.
We could expand the features available to all bloggers, that will take care of the newcomers too, who soon turn into old hands.
I'm not sure how voting for new comers will work. Cos they are new comers and its not fair to vote on how good their blog is right at the beginning. If I'm a tech savvy guy, my initial setup and blog might take away all the glory and then my blog might be dead after that.
So let me know how this plan sounds...
At the end of every month, we can chk for all the new comers of the month and base them on a few parameters... like
a) How many posts has he/she written in that month.
b) How active is he/she on the forum helping or taking help from the community.
c) frequency of posts in his blog.. etc.
This way, its the same ground that all new comers of the month will compete on. We will have quicker results on winner than voting on their blog. We can create a badge for "Best new comer of the month" award. That will look cool on the blogs as well.
