Someone please tell me that I am right

My wife, along with many other Indians, has become enamoured of the Zee TV series Fear Files. She watches it now on a nightly basis.

She has urged me to watch it, and states that it is about true events of the supernatural. I know that she can be gullible in some situations, so I did not pay much attention. Nevertheless, I decided to watch an episode a few nights ago.

I do not know Hindi. (Yes, I know that I should, especially given the time that I have been here. In the beginning, I did make an effort to learn some words, but I then began my blog, through which I am trying to earn some income--and not doing a very successful at that, either.) However, I was able to follow it somewhat.

The pertinent aspects were 1) that the supposed relatives of the "actual" participants appeared, to discuss their perspectives, and that some of the actors had modern cell-phones. This means that if the activity did happen, then they would have had to occur yesterday (or at least, in the very recent past; and 2) that if the story actually happened, and that there was no other logical or rational explanation for the supposed occurences, then my wife would HAVE TO convert from Christianity to Islam as the Muslims in the episode obviously knew THE TRUTH, and knew that it was possible to draw out human souls and capture them in clay pots. Christians, Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Buddhists and others do not have this superior knowledge, so Islam is OBVIOUSLY far superior.

Of course, I do not believe that souls can be tricked and captured and kept in a clay pot for all eternity. (After all, what would Christian, Hindu, Jain and other souls do without the "luxury" of residing in a clay pot?)

In researching the series, I found this http://www.zeetv.com/shows/fear-files/ which seems to corroborate what she "knows" about the series, and what she was told by someone else.

I still think that it is simply made-up stories, or perhaps stories inspired by unique circumstances, but produced in a professional, new and unique way to make it more believable.

Am I correct?

I have been interested in super natural and studied a lot findings and researches. Keep aside these tv hypes. True it is that one doesn't wish to accept things if religion restricts something, and want to go by scriptures. My personal view is unless you wish to delve deep into the truth, leave them aside, and go on with life as it is. Many tricksters to gain attention can be found and if they are able to get media attention, they are more than happy. Wyoming Manor, the most haunted house of the world was auctioned recently for millions in britain. One can virtually exerience Ghosts there. The don of the world, his spirit still haunts the gully where he had succumbed to bullet injury betrayed by his lover, coming out of hotel. Sir arthur conan doyle headed the organization for spiritualist researches, and many facts have been put up by them. A very intriguing subject it is.
