Here's a miserable alexa rank, please help!
Hi friends,
once again I've got a situation:
Alexa ranks of my two blogs are 9,710,113 and 11,380,985 respectively 
Currently I'm getting 100 to 200 visits/day in each of them as per my dashboard report (highest traffic from US)... 
When I search keywords in google my blogs don't come up satisfactorily 
My technical knowledge about SEO (I didn't even know this term until recently...!) is almost zero... considering my ignorance please guide me how to increase my alexa ranks and make my blogs appear in google search more often... please remember that you're guiding a layman while teaching me

pankti goto alexa dot com and then select site info and then type your blog url...and check for the rank... May be you need to create a free account there which is equally easy

Are you talking about the code - public class Smileys{.... - That was a small program which I wrote so that the HTML for displaying the 100+ smileys will be generated.

Actually, there is nothing else left to discuss about Alexa.
You have no ads on your blogs - why do you need alexa, PR and search traffic?
If you do all those SEO optimization and link building, what you get is traffic from google - its unlikely that those people would turn into regular followers of your blog.
So, stop worrying about Alexa and other things and blog for yourself and personal satisfaction - the thing that you have been doing since a very long time.
If you want to start from your blogging, I can be your SEO guru I can teach everything that you need in a few paragraphs.
but when you document your travel experiences you want it to come to other prospective travellers' use... so what's bad if anyone drops in from googling... even so many strangers have contacted me for travel advices about the places i've documented now and then... so it's important for my posts to appear in google search despite being non-profit blogging
please be my SEO guru and salvage me from this darkness of ignorance

My Alexa too is bad but I get good search traffic from google.. So i dont think, rankings matters much, do they ??
Ranks are more based on number of visit so i guess as visit increase rank will too ??
hmmm there's the root question, how to increase number of visitors? Well i am not asking that to irritate you guys...my query is more irritating though, how to make my posts appear better in search results? :-)

I receive few hits from google but people click the close button immediately because - I write a story about X. Google indexes it. People search for an infomative article about X. They visist my blog. And they click the close button because what they are looking for is not a story or a creative article!
So, what is the use of getting visitors who don't read anything?

I feel that [ my opinion ] people who maintain personal blogs should just ensure that their site design looks good and concentrate on content only - that way they will get more satisfaction with their blog posts. If you want to read other blogs, read. If you want to appreciate their content with a comment, do so. But if you do all these things with the intention of increasing traffic or getting links - the fun in blogging is lost!

For Blogger blogs, you can use the feed as a sitemap. The URL of the feed which displays all ( max 500 ) posts is :

- Go to Google Webmaster Tools.
- Click on your site name.
- In the left menu, Optimization > Sitemaps
- Click the Add / Test Sitemap button.
- Enter the URL and click 'Submit SiteMap' button.
If you have more than 500 posts on your blog, the sitemap url's will be :

It changes every single day so don't worry about it else it'll make you crazy (like me)
First of all, if you dont have any domain, try to buy a domain for cheaper rate, because your alexa rank has been shared for every country,
just consider, if you have 100 visitors from US and 50 visitors from india and 50 visitors from UK,
so your alexa rank is higher in US, and something not higher like in India and same in UK, so your alexa rank has been shared for different country due to blogspot.com , blogspot.in blogspot.pk like goes on. if you have unique domain name, you defenetly have constant alexa rank
and have in mind, you need to use alexa widget in website or blog, also need to use alexa toolbar, also instal alexa toolbar in your friends browser too...
