What should a blog actually be about?

It's kind of funny.

We all have different blogs here- and make new ones too. But have any of you have ever faced any problem as to what should your blog be about???

Mostly everyone writes personal blogs and random posts or travel blogs (like I do), something on social causes (like i do), photography, etc, etc,  but have you ever wanted to create a new blog just for one particular thing??

And then found everything mixed up in one blog??

Akshita all of us start the blog with some dreams and within matter of weeks it becomes a khichadi.  But after a period we definitely find our niche where we excel and can draw readers.   And that is when the fun begins but sadly I have seen many a blogger friends give up at the stage when they are putting all at once without any success.

This is my opinion

True Vijay,  mine is still a khichadi. But I love khichadi.

I've had one goal to start my blog and that is to keep a place to post my puzzles that aren't/don't need to be used for anything else, or that have been used and can be made public. I have stuck to that goal mostly, perhaps gone away from it and posted write-ups sometimes as well, but that's also mostly about Puzzle Championships I have attended in and outside India, so the content matter has been pretty consistent.

I think it depends on where you are in life when starting a blog. If you have set goals, and are already very much interested in those, its easy to keep to them. But some start blogs without set goals, and thats great too, because it gets you a base where you can express your thoughts/talents and see where that takes you, and it could show you what you're good at in the process.

I didn't have any future picture of my blog when I started it. But within less than a month, I had a clear picture of how I wanted my blog to be. I wanted all my posts to be based around my life, written from a philosophical view point. And it continued for around a year. And I was very regular with one post every week. And I always kept one post ready. Life was not easy then. I used to be free only after 10:00 at night and I used to post my articles at that time and feel happy seeing single digited visitors. And then, I joined IB and my blog got filled with contest posts. But still, no regrets. I won a few prizes. Also, I can no longer write posts of the kind I used to when my blog was new.

Right now, I have a Java Site. I am thinking of starting some more websites like that. Laughing

I was urged by my friend to begin blogging. She kept pestering me to write about my views and opinions about various Metal bands since Heavy Metal has been the single consistent force in my life and I've swallowed different sub-genres of it to create a map-line on what bands to begin with, what sub-genres to slowly transcend to and so on and so forth.

I went to Delhi for the Metallica Concert and thought to myself, "What better way to start on such a blog than to begin my column with the Concert I was to enjoy!?" Apparently, that Concert was canceled and I had to return back spending oodles of money [For the very first time] and a tad dejected, although not like the others. So, my first post was the introduction to my writing and my second happened to be my rant toward the idiots who began the vandalism.

Since then, I thought on using current affairs as part of my rants. If I would be in the scheme of things, I would write; else, I'd wait for the topic to resurface. Slowly due to my role as a shrink to my friends as well as certain disparities in my own life, I began writing metaphorical instances of such scenarios. I never liked the idea of restricting my opinion just to Metal or Movie Reviews. This way it keeps my mind free temporarily.

Is that the concert where people were forced to dump their bags in some corner, only to find their valuables went missing when they came back to collect it?

The Sorcerer - Same tour but different city. When they played in Bangalore, they didn't allow baggages inside which wasn't announced beforehand. Also, the very baggages were just scampered out on a certain section unprotected from the rain or even intruders.

My blog has dealt with comics, movies, videogames, current affairs, childhood nostalgia and even porn.

Doesn't sound like a niche but what all posts have in common are heavy doses of vulgar humour and profanity.

My blog is mostly about Travel and Photography, but I dont restrict sharing my random thoughts as well as a few short stories. What I know I would never post is Politics - never been my cup of tea!

Sometimes I do feel chaos at my blog, but then Chaos is an integral part of life :)

Politics! Aha!

That's 'write'....
