While I have not been posting regularly due to some other engagements, what I notice is a significant drop in external juice passing links which has dropped from 337 to 42! How that can happen - I have not deleted any post/pages, nor have I changed any setting? Any guesses?

Even I have the question about External Juice Passing Links. From 35 odd last month it came down to 2. How is it possible?

I still doubt how come a 2+ year old blog has just 5 external juice passing links?

What is this external juice that everyone is talking about? How do we get them?  Are the backlinks the same thing? Mujhe bhi ek badaa glass juice chahiye, preferably of mango, ek scoop ice-cream daalke  April ke liye sirf 3 juice miley hain mujhe. Par woh kaise miley?  

In very simple words, if a big site like TOI shares a link that directs to any of the pages of your blog, then this is the link juice your blog is getting from the TOI site.

What matters is the popularity/G ranking of the site that passes link juice on your blog.

It's qualitative aspect-a single link juice from a reputed site like labnol or stakeoverflow shall be more worth than the combined juices of 10 or more not-so-popular sites.

Now I am wondering who could have given my blog a backlink, that too 3? 

LJ is like a ladder to your place and how many visits are carried out using that ladder in a particular span of time, also matters.

LJ count does not vary much (unless new LJs  are generated or deletion of the pages (that carry LJ to your page) by the LJ-bestowing sites, but the LJ traffic keeps on changing. 

And this changing LJ traffic affects your ranks. :)
