Ok here goes.

I need help to build traffic for the following pages:

http://www.squidoo.com/leadership-hype

http://www.squidoo.com/Sculptures-of-South-Indian-Temples

http://www.squidoo.com/justbooks

I will be obliged if all (4000+??) of you visit the site and leave a comment (agreeing, disagreeing, criticising, anything).

If you visit and choose not to leave a comment in the pages, leave a comment here (in Indiblogger). In promise to visit your blog in return. How is that as a bargain? Cool

After all if I do not get help in this forum, where will I?

Thanks.

PS: And if you feel like becoming a lensmaster yourself, you could use the following link. http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/Amitabh1702

PPS: I hope this is not seen as spamming. If it is please feel free to delete this thread.

Dude, could you describe this whole squidoo thing in a nutshell? Has it helped you? Smile

Squidoo is a platform where you can develop a web page within 60 seconds. It is has pre-developed modules that one needs to assemble and voila! you hae a web page. You can create as many web pages as you wish to. And the best thing it is all free.

Of course if you want a good page, it takes more than 60 seconds.

Advantages: you can use Squidoo to direct traffic to your blog. How? Give a teaser from your bog and link up your blog.

Second, the link to your blog increases your SEO. Sqiodoo is ranked in the top 300 sites by Google. So links carry more weight.

Third, and this is how I intend to use: Sometimes, my ideas on a single topic spread across many posts in my blog. I wil collect them and make a page of them.

And for those who are interested in earning $$$$. Squidoo puts up advertisements on your pages (they call in lens). You can either ask them to pay you the money or you can donate it to a charity of your choice.

If you are an affiliate, you can use this platform to see.

I have just started but I alread see some traffic towards my blog.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Zeon and Adarsh,

Saw your comment on my lens. I am very obliged. I hope you enjoyed the lens as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Kabeeranban, You have just given me an idea. Indiblogger can choose a blog of the day and we can all (all 4000 of us) visit the blog. Imagine the impact.

Renie??

That IS an idea, but, I don't know... somehow I won't be satisfied for I haven't earned those readers if the visit is planed. Isn't it?

Now your approach was an idea! But putting into practise is mechanical right? I don't know, just my opinion.

And just for the records, we are more than 4000 strong! Smile

I agree with the blog of the day idea, and Zeon you need not feel that way the blog of the day will only be selected after careful review, and not all of us need to visit the blog. Those who want to they can!!!

Similarly we could selct a Post of the Day, What do you think???

Keep such great ideas coming.

How about we select the blog based on the frequency of posts? (Most active blogger of the week)

Selecting a blog based on the frequency of posts may not be a very good idea. It would be better if we go by a careful review process (as suggested by ARJuna)

Renie,

You don;t have to tell us your basis of choosing the blog of the day/week. Just go ahead and do it. Many will benefit. And, oh, by the way, though the discussion has veered totally off the tangent (but in a good way) I still need that traffic to my lens. So, where are the more than 4000 bloggers? Laughing

Blog of the day/week should be picked up based on the subject, posts, and no of comments.the blog should have followed alteast 85-90% of the blogging guidelines etc...

How about this? We all come to Forum and talk about our blogs to gain more attention and earn readers. So why not pick the most active guy on forum and highlight his blog for a Week "Most active indiblogger of the week". I don't mean most number of comments in total, but most number of comments that week.

His effort is paid off and forum gets more competitive!

What say people? what say renie?

@Zeon -Just a personal opinion. I think to pick the most active person on the forum and highlight his/her blog as  the 'Most active Indiblogger of the week' would be unfair to other bloggers.

From what I have seen, numerous bloggers post very good content on their blogs, but for various reasons do not participate in the forum. (It is a good idea to come up with some sort of incentive for bloggers to participate on this forum, but feel other options such as a  badge or something could be used for that purpose.)

My suggestion would be to have a 'Indiblog of the week' and highlight a blog by category. Categories could include technology, computers, science, environment, art, food, decor, sports, regional language, and so on.

By highlighting blogs in different categories,

1. We are driving traffic, thereby commending the effort of people in these categories.

2. As bloggers, we get to learn more about reading these blogs which otherwise we would not come across.

Having a feature of highlighting a blog (s), could encourage people to participate on this forum.

Of course, more guidelines would be needed for selecting the 'blog of the week'.

@Amitabh, sorry for diverging away from the your initial topic.

@Adarsh - What I have observed is, after participating actively in this forum, I have come to know a lot of you. As indiblogger we all need to be encouraging more people to blog more actively. If you notice, people in this forum has certainly got more readers coming their way than other non active bloggers.

I totally agree that there are some serious kick-ass blogs out there who are not active paticipants of this forum. They have the badges and stuff, but still aren't getting their blog advertised. Thats why we need to wake them up and bring them to this forum.

I have started following you guys blogs more frequently and before I didn't even know it existed! Thats the reason we need to get more activity in this forum. Which way you get your blog advertised. On top of that a place on the home page for spending some time grabbing some attention to you blog too.

@Amitabh - You have a gauranteed reader. Dont worry. Smile

@Zeon - Definitely agree with you that one can get more traffic by participating on this forum. I guess it will be a challenge to get people to participate more on this forum. However, it is evident that since Renie sent out a shout out email to all the bloggers, the forum is seeing more activity. Hope it continues at an increasing pace.

@Amitabh - I tried to do my bit for your blog! Smile

@Adarsh - True, bloggers like you are actively participating in the forum and keeping it busy. Thanks for that! And we are also working on more features to get more traffic for all the indibloggers.

And yes, we really hope it continues to consistently increase.
