I dont suppose Hindustan means the land of Hindus or anything like that. The word Hind is Persian for the Sindh region, and is also related to the Indus river(from where the word India is derived). The term Hindustan came into popular usage when Rulers from Western Asia came into India and settled here, after conquering Delhi and the surrounding areas.

हर शब्द के echo में कुछ न कुछ अंतर होता है। भारत , हिंदुस्तान और इंडिया जैसे वतन परस्त शब्दों को भी महसूस करने में या यूं कहूं उनके फ़्लेवर में  gross differance  है। मैं अपने पत्ते तो खोलना चाहता हूं पर कब खोलूं समझ में नहीं आ रहा है।

आज की तारीख़ में ऊपरोक्त  तीनों शब्दों पे आंच आने पर एक सच्चा देश भक्त कुछ भी कर सकता है पर ऐतिहासिक व साहित्यिक धरा में उनके फ़्लेवर को  मैं यूं महसूस करता हूं।(भारत शब्द में 1200 वर्ष पूर्व का विशुद्ध दूध दही चांवल रोटी का फ़्लेवर है  जो पूर्ण रूप से हिन्दू संस्क्रिती का फ़्लेवर है)।  हिन्दुस्तान शब्द में12वी से 17वी का फ़्लेवर है जब मुस्लिम तहज़ीब से हमारा रिश्ता जुड़ा इसे हल्के रूप में यूं भी कह सकते हैं कि सेवई व मटन बिर्यानी का फ़्लेवर है। (ईंडिया) शब्द की उत्पत्ती लगभग 400 साल पूर्व हु्वी जब हम ब्रिटिश कल्चर से रू-ब-रू हुवे।  इसमें वेरायटी आफ़ नानवेज का फ़्लेवर है इन्क्लूडिंग सी फ़ूड। आज तीनों शब्द हमारे रग रग में समाहित हैं और तीनों हमारे लिये एक से बढकर एक हैं।
