I stumbled on the stats feature of bloggers recently ( I know it is very stupid of me not to have checked it out earlierEmbarassed)  and have been having fun seeing different stats of my blog traffic. Most of the people who visited my blog are from USA. I am really grateful to Indiblogger for being in lead for bringing to my blog. What is the biggest source of traffic for your blog?

I get most of my blog traffic from google searches. The rest is from referrals like twitter, stumbleupon and indiblogger, of course.

It is the same with me Arti. I am on twitter but I am not active there. Most of my friends are on facebook and I am on facebook as soon as I log in. I wish I could become active on twitter too like I am on facebook but my friends do not like twitter

I am not understanding how to use stumble. I created an account but not sure how to get traffic through stumble. Haven't got a single hit from stumble in 2 months. And does Twitter have any advantage over face book. Have a twitter account but have not logged in for 6-7 months and even forgotten my password.

First install Stumble Upon toolbar. Then go to your blog posts and click the like button. Stumble Upon will show your blog to a few people who have interests similar to you. If they too like your page, the chances of your page being shown to other increase. If they click the other button (I don't remember the name) Stumble Upon thinks that not many may like your page.

Same with me 'The Fool'. Just checked out stumble upon and realized I am still naive about many sites. Amazing is the fact that through google I have got more clicks for my poem trapped in a cocoon http://chaptersfrommylife.blogspot.com/2010/03/trapped-in-cocoon.html which has not been one of my top posts than for any other post.

@ Mohit - Facebook has been good source of traffic for my blog too.

there only a select amount of users using Yahoo! search... so no wonder.. but there is an issue of Yahoo not knowing or not listing your blog posts on top.

How do you usually track your sites performance? Google Analytics?

For stumble you can add your site pages in your favorites, share it amongst friends and gradually increase viewership.

The main source of traffic for my blog is Google search. Little from other search engines, Indiblogger, my blogger friends, stumble upon... Nothing from twitter or facebook.

One thing I have noticed in the last one week or so is that in my Blogger stats, a lot of traffic shows from other blogsites on whose blogroll I am, 30 to 45 visits in one week from each blog... Not only a particular blog but many Blogs... I think it is not true... Anyone else noticing the same thing??
Bilna Sandeep

38% of visits are from Google, 35% are from Referring Sites and 27% from Direct Traffic.

IndiBlogger is the biggest referrer with 73% visits. Wink

Hi Sorcerer. You remind me to visit your blog and read your funny posts. Haven't been there for quite some time now. Interesting data there.. so stumbleupon is a good source of traffic to blogs by what we read here.

Cake blog is idling for sometime, its only the review blog that's full time active. Those numbers are from Hardware BBQ.

I've yet to use youtube/vimeo/daily motion as another source of traffic for BBQ. That's going to take some work and lot of time but that's where I'll get maximum number of attention from people belonging to this niche and the general public who has certain interests in common. I guess one can call it "organic trafffic" >_>"

You need to use Google analytics to have a better insight. Most of the search queries from google and yahoo end up in one page bounce (they do not go to the next page even)So you never build a loyal base.

Google search works for you if your blog is like a tech blog where targeted audience is a floating population. But If you are a humor blog like mine or a fiction writing blog you should try to build loyal user base.

I get most traffic from google. followed by feeds, Facebook. Though I tried using stumbleupon, you don't get much results when you stumble yourself. But when a friend stumbled my post, it got some visitors. So I guess it depends on how big your network in stumble is, for your posts to be circulated again.

I am surprised too Umesh. I need to visit your blog to check out what it is all about Laughing

Major source of traffic to my blog is Google. Top countries are USA, India, UK and Canada.
