Support for HP Take Flight with Colors Contest
Hi All,
This support thread is for all queries on the latest contest launched on IndiBlogger by Hewlett Packard IPG.
So fire away! Happy to help!
IndiTeam
hi vineet, the topic says what one wants to see in color, any old black and white thing.
what is wanted. an imaginative story or what. if you could elaborate on it. it would be gr8.
you know very well I am slow at grasping things.
This example will make it clear: when ever I play chess, I keep wondering why the board has to be in black and white. I would rather have it with all squares in different colors. Now with a chess board which has many shades and not just black and white, what would it look like? Imagine and blog away!
I think that an entry can be in any form: a short article, story, poem or anything even more creative.
I am actually confused about the topic too..It says "Why must somethings always be Black & White? " and then it asks us to write on what we want to see in colors..er.. like what exactly the topic means?
1) Do we have to tell why something should always be black and white and never given color just because it showcases its true beauty in black and white only? (From the title)
OR
2) Do we have to tell something we would like to see in colors which is currently black and white? (From the description)
Please help!! I feel that description is something that accurately describes what we have to write..but the title is very confusing!!!
Exactly!! the title and the decription dont seem to match!! i am confused too
Hi Kimi, you need to write as per point 2 you've mentioned
I'd have preferred only "Take flight with color" and then description. Even if the description has to be portrayed in the title, it should be -
"Why must somethings always be Black & White! "
instead of
"Why must somethings always be Black & White? "
OR it could be
"Why must somethings not always be Black & White? "
What do you guys think?
The first two are incorrect and do not go with the contest theme. "Why must somethings not be always black and white" is not fully correct too, because you need to be imaginative and think about anything in black and white and why you want to see it in color. It might not be the best thing to do, like a having 64 shades in a chess board. But still thats your wish to see that in color; so share why you want it in color!
btw, 64 individual squares :) How many squares totally in a chess board? Don't google it! :)
okiee!! Thanks! :)
Generally, when some topic is put up for discussion, we have a right to speak against it. Is that not allowed here as per the contest rules? HP even produces black and white printers
Sir, Please after some time. We are doing some maintenance activity at the moment.
Confused...Which one to promote ..Colour or black and white Since the printer is Colur can assume should promote colour ..
Yes, color needs to be promoted. When you write about the thing in black and white you wish to see in color, surely we would be promoting color wouldn't we?
Hi Vineet,
Being a visual artist, I have my arguments on discrimination of colors because black and white are as colorful as any other color, but I will restrain myself.
I just want to check with you if the system is still down for maintenance, since I cannot seem to post my entry. Could you green-flag on this thread when the system is up? Thanks!

Yes, some of the best photographs I have seen have been in B/W . But try imagining something thats B/W which you would like to see in color! How does that shape up? Blog away!
I'd love to first paint my office with some colors...Its literally all black and white!! lol
Kimi, hope you've got hang of the contest topic! You should share your interpretetion of the topic for others to also understand it better !
yeah..I think I got it now!! :D Thanks!! :) Will try to answer any queries if I can!! :) :)
Can any help me with this? I am not sure if this is the 'system down' issue that Vineeth mentions in the thread or my ignorance of the Indivin system- I cant seem to see my entry once I submit it to the contest pag (Take Flight with Color).
My steps:
- I go to Indivine page and click on 'Submit post' on the right top corner
_ i submit my entry and comeback to the indivine page
_ I click on 'My posts' (after 0.5, 1and 2 hrs), but no luck- I cant see it there.
- I ahve tried this twice no with no luck. What am I doing wrong? Can any one find it for me??
Thanks
Sandeep, entries are shown only after a few days of the contest start. So right now all posts are hidden. You should be able to see all entries once we open up the contest page
BTW my entry is already up at http://randrumblings.blogspot.com/2011/06/hues-infused-take-flight-with-colors.html. Let me know what you guys think?
Request everyone to not promote their posts on this forum thread. This is a support channel
Apologies! You could go ahead and delete my post here.
Also, thanks for answerig my query...
Hey Vineet
i dont seem to be able to find my entry on regular Inidivine listing...
ANy ideas?
You will be able to see your entry and other entries from June 18th onwards.
so writing about a B&W film I want to see in colours in OK?? (I understand even that may sound profane to purists... but just for the sake of the contest...)...
@Ranjith...
not necessarily... on a more personal note...
The title of the contest is very tricky. I never thought that colours have so much importance. I am really fed up of seeing everuything in colour and wish to imagine how the world would have been if it was in black and white!
I apologize if this is a naive question. But I am new here.
What is the last date for this? I saw that it is 9 PM on june 26th.
But then I saw that entries will not be shown till June 18th.
Why do we have two dates? What is the significance of June 18th?
People can vote for your posts. If you check out Indivine here: http://www.indiblogger.in/indivine.php you can see that beside every submission , there is a hear shape and a number beside it. the number is equivalent to the number of people who have voted for that particular post.
From June 18th onwards, others will be able to see your entry and vote for it.
You can submit your entries till June 26th.
The number of votes your entry gets does not matter. So, you may submit your entry even on the last day. Creativity and originality helps you win the contest.
Hi Vineet,
I have written my post in my blog, but the blog is still pending approval. Can it be possible to approve it asap so that I can enter my Indivane post for this contest?
Thanks!! :)
I think that you have a blog that is approved. Why don't you post it over there?
I can't post it there coz its a beauty blog and this is quite off beauty topic. I have a separate personal blog for all other stuffs, poems etc. And I submitted it here last week only..Donno when is it going to be approved!! :(
Submitted my entry, dont know what I have written is even acceptable or not!!!
All The Best to All Participants
We've updated the contest page based on your feedback - we hope it's clearer now!
thanks, its clear as crystal now.
what if I don't talk about black and white at all...and rave only about all the beautiful colors of life. Do I get thrown out of the contest ?
Finding the topic a bit confusing.. Please help.
You might not be thrown out of the contest in the way you have mentione. But it is recommended that you include the words black and white atleast once in your entry.
A lot of very thoughtful entries in the take flight with colours contest ... Connecting colour with everything from patriotism , poetry and stories. An awesome sunday read :-)
Anyone else writing/planning to write?
@ DC I too ended up in the same situation. All that I have done was to add another few lines to my existing entry so that it would to a certain extent, conatin what the sponsorers need.
