You've got a warm, welcoming blog. My only suggestion is that you should experiment a little subtly with the colors, fonts and design to make it resonate with the content. You can make it more in sync and continue blogging as often as possible. Best of luck.

two things,

First, make the text a bit smaller. it need not be that big. Make it size 12.

second, there are two many widgets in the left column. balance them with half on left and the other half in the right column,
